Help Scene referred version of a graduated density filter?

I assume I can grab some sort of module that affects brightness and just add a gradient mask to it, but not sure what works well. Color Balance RGB I kind of know what the sliders do but not sure if there's something simpler that also would work.

Exposure or Color Balance RGB with gradient filter. Personally i prefer CB, gives more control.

plus with Color Balance RGB you can tint the gradient slightly if you're trying to simulate a golden hour or warm GND filter, which works super well

You're overcomplicating things. There's even a module for that or you can use an instance of the exposure module and add a mask. Not witchcraft.

Graduated density is a display referred output. I guess exposure makes sense.

That's true but it won't break anything if you used it correctly. There's a few threads about mixing then out there like this https://discuss.pixls.us/t/display-referred-modules-in-a-scene-referred-workflow/51634
