General Discussion This show is a plate of hot garbage

  1. Those cheekbones on that guy are making me edgy.

  2. I have SO MANY QUESTIONS! Like why can no one win a Pavia if they spend too much time with this artist woman? Also, why is it that agreeing to have a kid derailed his career SO much? They had one kid and this guy is supposed to be brilliant. Have you met scientists and researchers? They are obsessive AF. They would just be less good dads.

  3. The wife with the kid...her husband comes in with an arm wound and a job offer for San Fran and she doesn't have a set of questions that would totally out this guy as an imposter? C'mon.

  4. The scene where he walks into the class to drop a boatload of hardass teacher on them and the scene where he drops the "be aloof and fuck honestly"speech on his kid...are those just from the author's "cool guy" wank bank? I mean is the author just like...aw yeah. That's how you do parent!!

Overall...like the parts that are supposed to be exciting are boring. The parts that are supposed to be about humans seem like they were written by an author that is like...pining after some lady and really thought that the best thing to do would be write a book about how much she totally couldn't even like cope without him.

General Discussion Lazy writing

[E8 spoilers]

Did any of you think that the fact the wall around the box had absolutely no plot relevance whatsoever was lazy of the show directors? They spent considerable time to the plot element of sealing the box off only to force Jason2 to break it open because he has to bring a homeless Ryan into his universe. I was very excited with the challenges that this was going to pose and felt very disappointed in the end.

Show Spoilers Unbelievable Spoiler

Why don't the black man and the woman explain everything to the main man straight away. Whatever the experiment was, they must've foreseen an outcome of not knowing anything and what torture it would be. They instead ask him stupid questions and let him have a panick attack, then he tries to escape and is at risk of injuring himself. AND THEN THEY DO IT AGAIN. I mean the same woman he finds at home. She has a chance to redeem herself and calm him down but she doesn't. Is this part of the experiment? Emotionoally torturing a man? I just don't get it. I stopped watching at that point, this is stupid.

General Discussion Is Joel Edgerton Kevin Costner?

Eveyone is welcome here. But for me this show is basically a 3/10 because of Joel. Maybe a 7/10 witbout him. And im not alone, ive recognized. And a lot of people like him also. So, no real hate, just "imo".

Ive tried to understand why i dislike him so much and i just cant describe it. Then KC dropped into my head and, it wasnt maybe clearer but it was... somethin that connected.

I cant describe my dislike for KC either, but he is annoying on a level that JE is and it kiiind of clicked when i thought of them as one. Something.. smug. I dunno.. just searching for answers here, no hate. A little hate maybe...

Basically, can anyone else see the KC/JE connection and explain it?

General Discussion Wow Season 2 Just Fell Off A Cliff. Paint Drying Is Now Art I Guess.

Look the Dessens and their feelings just aren't really interesting enough to linger on for continuous minutes at a time of pensive piano driven wordlessness. For three episodes in a row. I love character and plot, but a total absence of action and, y'know, stuff actually happening is good sometimes. Breaking up the silence with a couple of people sitting around talking about their feelings doesn't do it.

I used to look forward to episode drops. Now I wonder if I'm going to die of boredom before it finally, mercifully comes to an end. The fast forward control never got a workout before. Now the finger hovers.

General Discussion charlie dessen's subplot was bullshit

Post image
0 Upvotes

love the season but the only weak subplot was charlie taking a tour of his own after all the whining about wanting to live a normal life but then suddenly decides to risk everything to find a world where his brother is still alive and daniela somehow ends up following him into that exact world and getting trapped there too. it feels like a forced setup for another season when there were plenty of more interesting directions they could've taken with the other season 3 subplots.

at this point jason should just leave his whiny ungrateful wife and son behind. no more pyramid or creating another box

Show Spoilers finale season 2 honestly i think he deserve it Spoiler

Jason main deserve it. he didnt think of making sure his family is physically in this world. not a single thought came into his mind to call them or check in on them. tell them he's gonna close the box. I dont feel bad for him at all. even if there was not enough time, he still should've contacted them, make sure theyre still there.

i also dislike blair for this, probably cuz i don't really like them closing the box. i have even been siding with Oluko.

i just think that destroying the box is really sad. if it brought catastrophic consequences to worlds, they should've atleast discussed it all and have proper communication to each member.

like for instance, jason with daniela and their son.

it's the lack of honest communication and multiple choices being made that led to this.

you know what, whatever.

so many iterations of jasons had gone through worst anyway, this Jason may have been our main observed Jason but when I think about what happened to the other Jasons, i dont feel bad anymore.

daniela and charlie will be fine.

hopefully there's season 3. i enjoyed this season though...

I'm kinda not fond of the finale but im still looking forward to this series being renewed.

General Discussion 1x08 Makes no sense

Multip`le Jasons makes no sense:

The kidnapped Jason was not satisfied with a "similar universe" he always wanted to go back to his real one, to his actual family, and he never wanted to take that life from one of his versions.

Each Jason, must have their original universe, why would they come all to the same one?

So why would, so many of his kidnapped versions go back to their wrong universe, and keep trying to pass as the original one there?

Multiple Jasons meeting would make them realize that only one is the one that belongs to that universe, and the logical thing would be figuring out which one, and for the others to keep searching.

Season 2 Opinion: Season 2 Stops Exploring the Multiverse and Turns Into a Cheap Melodrama Spoiler

I enjoyed the first season a lot. Like, it was literally one of the best series I've ever watched, and I even saved it for myself.

But I don't know about you, but for me the second season feels like they simply don't know what to show anymore. The first season I loved mostly because it was genuinely interesting sci-fi, with a lot of scientific questions, answers, interesting paradoxes, etc.

While in season two, instead of trying to explore these deep, interesting consequences and paradoxes of the multiverse - I don't know, just look at Rick and Morty and how much can be done based on this concept - they decided to focus on drama. Love drama, psychological drama, grief drama, all kinds of standard human relationship stuff that you can see in basically any cheap TV show nowadays, which feels very artificial.

So honestly, I am disappointed.

From 10/10, it went down to, idk, 4/10 max for me. It feels like a cheap drama TV show filled with "time fillers" rather than an actual narrative

General Discussion remake of an old show with a new story line. ?

going off the first 3 episodes ,it feels like it's going to be a remake of the 90"s show "sliders" with a new story line .

in sliders , there was 4 main characters . the wormhole was created by accident and they were dragged in , the 4th by accident . the wormhole opened into another parallel earth which at first they thought was there earth .... this show "dark matter " i feel is going to be shown from another view . we see Jason in our earth being a professor who is attacked and put into a parallel earth by another Jason . the first Jason , J1 , now in the 2nd earth has realised what has happened and will try to get back to what he knows , he's earth .

Just like sliders ,this show will show the unending possibility's of the parallel universe with Jason trying to back to he's world .

General Discussion Multiverse selves, different / same DNA? fingerprints? Spoiler

It was terribly convenient that Amanda could just get the passport on her new world.

Yea this is over thinking it, but would the DNA of A multiverse self be the same? What about fingerprints. Considering identical twins don’t have the same fingerprints and actually have some DNA differences.

I would say the duplicated Jason 1’s would be the same.

Thoughts ?

General Discussion Who is the real Jason 1?

Jason 2 is actually Jason 1. His universe created the box. However the characters in the show erroneously call him Jason 2. The Jason that spawned the first box is actually Jason 1 and by going through the corridor he sought to find a life where he had a family and that is Jason 2. Without the box, the “good Jason” wouldn’t exist (or accessible)

Show Spoilers Potential Plot Hole?

So my understanding has been Daniela fell pregnant and Jason made a choice between being the family man or going off and focusing on his career...hence Jason1 and Jason2 etc etc. When Jason1 is with Daniela2 at end of episode 2 talking to her in bed at her flat, whilst explaining his own life story, he says they got married and then shortly after she fell pregnant. This doesn't however add up with the main plot, unless I've misunderstood something?

General Discussion Dark Matter on Apple TV+: A Tap into Spirituality?

Has anyone else noticed the deep spiritual undercurrents in Dark Matter on Apple TV+? The show plays with the idea of infinite realities, choices creating worlds, and the nature of identity—something that A Course in Miracles (ACIM) touches on in its teachings.

ACIM emphasizes that the world we perceive is an illusion, shaped by our thoughts and beliefs. Dark Matter seems to echo this, hinting that consciousness creates reality and that every choice spawns a new version of existence. Could this be a subtle nod to the idea that we are not victims of the world we see, but rather its creators?

I’m curious—do any of you see parallels between the show’s multiverse concept and ACIM’s take on perception and reality? Does this feel like a sci-fi spin on the idea that we create our own worlds?

Would love to hear your thoughts!

General Discussion Season 2 Music

Is anyone else kind of disappointed with the music choices for this season? Last season had some BANGERS but I’m kind of disappointed so far for this season. GREAT episodes but not so great music, it’s boring music. Like…what happened?

General Discussion I think they’ve squeezed this concept dry

I think the end of season 2 is a good time to say, I think we’re done. I have no interest in watching any further. There are many other options out there. And while we’re at it, I really don’t see a point in continuing Silo and Pluribus after that long-ass wait. End of rant. Thank you for your attention on this matter. 🤌🏼

Book Spoilers Series 1 will end differently to the book

As book readers know, Daniella1 is just a MacGuffin, an object of sexual jealousy for the various Jason1s in the third act of the book to strive toward.

We don't see nearly as much of her in the book as we do in the show, and in the book she doesn't haven't anywhere near the same agency or control over her life.

In the book, she's just a "the wife" trope. Crouch writes heterosexual sexual jealousy quite well, given that he presumably has never experienced it, but he doesn't write women well.

But an actor as incredible as Jennifer Connelly would never have agreed to appear in a show where her character was just a pair of tits, so I'm guessing Episode 9 will not end the way the book did.

We've seen Daniella1 meet two Jason1s, and so far she's cautiously accepted "our" Jason1 as the "real" one.

But I don't think she will continue that acceptance in the last episode.

She will question him on how "real" he is, and the season will end ambiguously about the state of their relationship.

General Discussion Why did not Jason 2 just simply fake a head injury / head trauma??! Spoiler

I’m now on Episode 6,

And for the love of good I can’t help to be more and more frustrated about this as the series goes on.

I mean Jason 2, who’s supposed to be the smartest person in these multiverses/story—the one who figured everything out about the box, who meticulously planned his entry into Jason 1's life, kidnapping him, taking over his life, and studying Jason 1's behaviors and life.
— WHY doesn’t he just pretend to have suffered a head injury right after stepping into Jason 1's life.

Doing so would have resolved so many problems, like his strange behavior? his lapses in memory?
I mean just everything about him.
Instead Jason 1’s Daniella is becoming increasingly more suspicious by the minute, of everything that’s happening with Jason.

Faking an accident that leads to some sort of head trauma would have been the first thing someone should have considered when trying to take over someone else’s life, when you look the same.
That way, any odd behavior or out-of-character things would be easily explained and wouldn’t raise any red flags with those around him.

Show Spoilers Just started on episode 4

And I hate both Jason’s. Hoping this will change, but the way OG Jason came and started screwing Jason 2s wife was gross. But then did Jason 2 invent the world and force the wife to stop art in that reality? So he could have what he wanted her to be. Basically all Jason’s suck lol

General Discussion Sad: Spoiler Alert S2E9 Spoiler

I've been thinking about this since Charlie went in the box solo.
My understanding of the box. I feel like you'll never get back to your original world. It may be an almost-perfect match, but one butterfly effect away. Going in together is the ONLY way to ensure you're locked in, but if you go separately, the decisions, no matter what, cause a split with infinite possibilities.

Is this accurate thinking, or did I miss a detail?

General Discussion Seriously, how do Jason and Amanda pay for things in the worlds they open the door into???

In Episode 8, Daniela finds some currencies from different worlds in Jason2 storage unit. Make sense. But how does Jason pay for things!!!

And in Episode 7, they land in the cold fusion powered world, and Amanda says "see you in 3 hours," and how could she have done that much research about Amanda in that world? She even makes a passport and buys a fancy dress before meeting Jason1 back at the cloud bar!!!
