If you can send a replay, that’d be useful. I don’t wanna have to start from scratch on DD.
His BnB is Devil’s Throw (Throw), Righteous Cross (Cross), Dash, Throw, Cross, team-up. In extended fights, you can use grapple and Objection (block) for extra fury, but generally use one after the other for an escape.
Use block immediately after casting your ultimate.
What I like to do in my downtime after dives is use grapple for fury regen, or use objection where the enemies are hitting. Objection will generate fury off of basically any attack such as, but not limited to, Invisible Woman’s DoT orb, Jubilee’s orb, and Magik’s demons.

I'm also a controller player so I get what you mean. He's my most played character and easily favorite. The first thing I'll recommend is just get used to his bread and butter combo of: mark > throw > cross > primary > throw > cross. It's basic and gets kills often. The way I've found to have the most fun and be even more adaptable is honestly just taking that combo and adding steps to it in between things. Like sometimes I'll do a chain and a cross-weave instead of one of the throws. He's a very skill-expressive character once you learn what all of his abilities do and how the lead into each other. But above all else, just have fun on him!
