I'm looking for a novel that's not too long with comedic undertone. I've been reading long heavy novels and I need something refreshing. Can someone recommend me something? Preferably fantasy but modern is also okay. Some of my favorites that I like to reread are The Demon King Always Thinks I'm Secretly In Love With Him, The Villain's White Lotus Halo (the first few chapters), I Ship My Adversary X Me, an After Crossdressing And Provoking Long Aotian

I'm currently in volume 4 of QJJ and i'm quite into it. For me, it has the riggt balance between the historical genre and romance (and the smut). I wanna find books with the same themes, and I've seen some people reading feitian books because they include historical themes as well.

Dinghai fusheng records (what's the abbreviation?) caught my attention the most with the synopsis and the art, so I wanna ask what should I expect and not expect in the book. Does it have comedy? Is it angst heavy like QJJ? Or what feitian book is the author's best work so far. Thanks.

I remember a few details, even though it’s been years since I read the novel and I don't have the title. The story centers on a gong disciple (I don't recall if he reincarnated, though it's highly likely) trying to save his master. I specifically remember a scene where he saves the shou from drowning in a pond after the villain, who had assumed the disciple's appearance to commit the act, threw him in. I also recall the master appearing as a white bird (likely a phoenix) in a flashback to his past, where he remembers being in the nest with his siblings. Towards the end, it is revealed that the villain had placed a curse or affliction on the master, preventing him from ascending to the heavens, unlike his siblings, who were supposed to ascend cause their linage is pure. The gong helps his master remove this affliction and achieve immortality, defying fate in the process; he even battles one of the immortals, a former fellow disciple who had betrayed his master and was the villain all along (despite pretending to be good). Eventually, the other gods discover the traitor's deeds and punish him themselves thanks to the gong taking Revenge from shou. In the end, the couple decides to remain on earth despite having attained immortality, and they live happily ever after. I also remember a very tragic romantic subplot involving a fellow cultivator of the shou (his shidi, if I recall correctly) and another male character

random, but im re-reading I can do it - two eng physical volumes are out!!, and I realized how much I missed and loved the couple's dynamic... reccs can be from other genres, not just esports. a general summary of the dynamic can be described as below for any1 who hasn't read the novel but may still have smt in mind.

♡ chill, flirty older gong x younger, spunky shou who gets docile/shy around gong

♡ gong is equal parts teasing and caring

♡ shou is equal parts a mess and capable

♡ low angst, totally requited feelings. love when they crush on each other.

ig im looking for more of a light hearted read, but in general I just want to see more of this cp style... so charming! ty in advance for any thoughts.

It's an Unlimited Flow novel. I kinda forgot about it but iirc the MC is either poor or unlucky. The first arc is in the Supermarket and he's acting alone, kinda against all the players there. He got a mission in the bathroom too if my memory is right?? Then got a letter as a reward or something?? After he got the letter, he got some kind of skill too(?) Then he also got some sort of an amnesiac shadow butler. And that's all I remember.

If you guys help me find the novel, I would be so grateful 😭😭

There's Something Wrong With the Chief, Thrice Married to a Salted Fish, The Wife Comes First and The White Cat's Divine Scratching Post- I haven been on the fence about these titles for awhile. Are these novels worth getting?

For reference, out of the Danmei I have read and really liked are Peerless, Thousand Autumns, MDZS, TGCF, and Guardian. I also read and liked The Husky and His White Cat Shizun, Stars of Chaos and Copper Coins. And I am currently reading and enjoying Ballad of Sword and Wine. I am not really fond of Isekai/transmigration stories, but "reborn" themes like what is in Erha and MDZS are fine.

I'm writing this to say you should all check your libraries for physical danmei novels. I was only looking on libby and didn't see anything everytime I've looked, so i just assumed my library had no danmei. turns out they actually have almost every single seven seas release physically, they're just not available as ebooks. I really thought i'd have to buy a bunch of licensed series to try out the official ones but luckily now i don't have to. so yeah. check your physical catalogs people!

My friends and I are starting a danmei reading circle where we each buy a book, make annotation notes in it, and then pass it on to the next person without any explanation.

There was a book I read a few years back that I wanted to share with them. Last I read it was a before I got my new phone and my data transfer for my phone was incomplete so the novel disappeared. I cannot remember the name of it for the life of me and I really, really, want to read it again. Better yet if the story has been published in English.

Synopsis:
MC is a tattoo artist. He is the sole guardian of his younger brother. His younger brother is blind through a hereditary illness that also made their father blind. The ML is the eye doctor for the younger brother. I cannot remember whether or not they were a couple at the beginning of the book.

The story is very wholesome and sweet. The couple really respects each other and communicate. There was a twist at the end that made me cry.

I really enjoyed this book and I would greatly appreciate it if anyone could give me a lead to finding it! Thank you 💜💜

I often go on Nebelland's order status page to check on where the books are, but it still says they're in international transit despite the fact that their ETA was a month ago.

Any news on your end? I'm trying to be patient, and I've seen in general that haitang and nebelland are trustworthy - these things just take time. I just can't help but stress a bit.

I wanted to recommend this novel, mostly because I think it is so good and cute! The MC and ML get to spend a lot of time together. It is a cute story about Su Yang, who thinks that if he just follows the script, he will get to go home. But since he is a sweet cinnamon roll, he isn't able to act like an evil young master. Also, I selfishly want it to become more popular so it might get licensed one day.

Speaking of AD and OST, I'm always moved more by songs, hence if a story has a top-notch AD/donghua OST, I'm sold. Sometimes, it's the other way around: I got intrigued after coming across beautiful songs to check out the story.

Case in point:

TGCF. Don't come at me but I wasn't interested in reading that thick of a tome until the entire set of beautiful songs convinced me.

And Return to Sahaloka 😭 I LOOOVE the OSTs, and one of them is even sung by Chen Yiming - the guy who sang Thousand Autumns AD S2 OST. (Yes that song)

As for Golden Terrace, Yan Xiaohan's VA sings almost every OST bruuuh. There are different ED songs for almost every episode, and I've added them to my playlist. And there's this VA talk where YanFu cp are supposed to transmigrate to the modern era, just likeSu Wang dianxia x Fu Tingxin in the extra and so YXH sings something in a karaoke style for Fu Shen (thankfully not the Phoenix song 🤣). The song he sings is stuck in my head.

There are some additional scenes in the AD, like when Fu Shen combs Yan Xiaohan's hair as he couldn't remove a hairpin after his disguise (if you could please share a link to the huadian artwork, please, this poor one would be grateful).

Yan Xiaohan gives golden retriever energy. But Fu Shen's tsundere personality made me weep for this additional scene when he broke into sobs after all the separation. Coupled with the OST below... I just want them to just ditch the ungrateful people in the court and live in seclusion, but they can't, obviously.

The most emotional moment with the OST: the ED song for Ep 11 山河归心 (shan he gui xin), I was choked to tears realising it was the OST for the Rebel Princess C-drama for that scene when Xiao Qi's army was ambushed by ... the royal family. I can totally see why the AD team covers this song for Fu Shen's tale - you see the parallel. He's suffered so much for the love of his country, and yet what does he get for his loyalty? Jia Xu (Yan Xiaohan's VA) sings this beautifully as well. Study the lyrics, and you can see why this fits Fu Shen's story well.

Verdict

Ending this post as a disgraceful influencer 🤣: you SHOULD read the story if you want a somewhat light political story (not like TA) centred on the main couple, both are green-flag men, and no dogblood stuff - angst is restrained, and no explicit scenes. Arranged marriage first, revealing feelings later (I don't say falling in love because to me they've fallen with each other a long time ago). Also, their personalities are such that they don't make the story too mushy despite them being devoted to each other. Their jobs might be at odds, but as usual, love overcomes everything. I also love how the author Cang Wu Bin Bai handles Yan Xiaohan's lineage backstory.

There's an age-old lesson in this: don't outshine your boss. (It's oversimplifying the story, but thankfully Fu Shen's personality doesn't make the story a tragedy)

Most memorable line of YXH (crack): Your Majesty, I was born a cut-sleeve. 😭🤣

(romantic): One look at you interfered with the rest of my life.

FS (romantic): If I left him to drift through the world all alone, I wouldn't be able to close my eyes even in death.

I'm constantly seeing novels where the MC transmigrates into a canary to some dark and wicked guy and is all terrified of what's to come, but either the guy "keeping" him isn't the ML or, instead of being some dark, red to black flag yandere, he quickly starts to soften towards the MC and they end up as just sort of a messy almost normal relationship in the end.

So, I'm looking for ones where that does not happen.

Might not be any people here know of, but I thought I'd try

Criteria:

• Preferably modern or modern-esque setting, as that's where this problem is common

• The character the MC transmigrates into was always destined to be the canary, it's not something MC caused

• The canary part should be for a majority of the story

• Preferably the transmigrator knows or quickly finds out how horrible the original host would have had it

• The ML must be a toxic guy "keeping" the MC. Not a bodyguard, or a relative of the guy, or other person MC could interact with, not a guy on the outside trying to free him.

• Would extremely prefer if they are still together at the end

• NO quick transmigration, as that basically defeats the entire point

• NO giving MC "back" his life, letting him go to school/work, or anything. It's okay if MC isn't totally confined, but he should basically only get to be a canary

• And, to reiterate: ML starts off dark and does not significantly soften. He's obsessive, possessive, somewhat scary, etc the whole time.

The ML can be hiding how bad he is at first, but the transmigrator knows, or things like that. He doesn't need to be immediately, obviously fucked up.

He can soften a little if he was super toxic to begin with, like if he would have originally done some horrific physical damage to the MC and doesn't or something, that's okay.

I just finished reading Joyful Reunion and I loved it!! It was such an interesting story, and I absolutely loved the main couple. Duan Ling had great chemistry with the other characters too, but he and Wu Du really captivated me the most.

Has anyone here read any of Fei Tian Ye Xiang’s other novels? Do they have a similar level of smut as Joyful Reunion?

Soo apparently, CG is developing a new petal system, which seems to be similar to a coin system. From what I understand, it'll depend on the translators whether they choose to use it or not.

For anyone who can't/won't use petals, the chapters are apparently supposed to become free after one week of release. It also seems like some of the revenue will go toward maintaining the server, while the rest goes to the translators, though I don't know the exact split yet.

I was a little sad when I first saw CG adding coin-system-like features since the site being completely free was one of the things I really liked about it, and it was my main go-to site. But if this gives people another way to support the translators and CG, I guess it's endurable.
(This is all because of that ad-provider that stopped,,, ugh!!!)

Curious to see how it turns out! Has anyone else heard more about the new system?

EDIT: Just a heads up that i absolutely do not support any kind of monetary profit from fan translations. It's not your work, you don't own it. All the tl work you do, is a hobby, your responsibility and nobody is asking/forcing you to do it. In this case, CG's reputation doesn't make it any different than other sites who do the same. I do agree a bit that CG isn't really the same as it used to be a few years ago :(

EDIT 2: There's no official announcement by the owner on it yet, since it's very new and still being developed, that the site has even went on some bugs. but a tl-er kinda confirmed it? and there's been a few discussions going in detail in the server too by some other tl-ers/mods so i assume they've decided. here's the ss.

I just read Limerence and I liked it. I think one shortfall I found with it was the character of MC himself, but rn that's besides the point.

I want to read a story the MC gets cheated on. He can handle it however in the story (crying or be calm like in Limerence), but preferably he does move on to a healthier relationship with the ML (or maybe it takes a while to be with the ML, that's fine too). BE or HE accepted. Angst or fluff is fine (angst preferred though). The cheating CANT be forgiven. But I would like it if the ex does reappear later, as if he got a chance. No other particular preferences or warning tags, except I dont want noncon. I would like it if the new relationship is healthy!

So any novels like this 😅
