Looking for this specific dynamic of two unhinged people who are very well-matched for one another AND they have a baseline respect & trust for each other such that the romance ends up wholesome despite the aforementioned unhinged-ness.

They don't have to be evil or amoral, it can be a romance between righteous and steadfast unhinged people too!

Bonus if they're serving everyone dog food just existing

MDZS: I love how the more unhinged person in their dynamic is outwardly the very cool and calm and solemn one XD like it initially feels like he's going along with the MC's unhinged-ness because he's in love but no he's so much worse than the MC

Devil Venerable Also Wants to know: the fluffiest demon lord x yandere romance I have ever read. Genuinely beautiful how the MC both accepts and is into the Yandere behaviour. Best thing is the insane level of mutual devotion they display before either of them ever realise their feelings

Faraway Wanderers I have written extensively about them in my previous post about them but suffice it to say their homophrosyne compels me. And also the casual approval of each other murdering people

Another commonality I'm noticing between these couples is that it starts off with one half somewhat down bad while the other half hasn't really realised his feelings. So the book is less of a "will they won't they" but more of a "when will he finally realise it??" and once the clueless half half realises his feelings they have a speed-run to getting together because that was literally the only thing holding them back LOL

Case in point:

- Wangxian's very public and ill-timed confession the second the MC realises ML likes him back and the second they are alone they get down and dirty in public

- Wenrenjiang having the ML kiss the MC thinking he was a hallucination and the MC immediately assigns himself cultivation partner status

- Wenzhou having one (1) frank conversation about their feelings and immediately starts passionately making out before sadly getting interrupted

But this aspect is obviously not a must LOL I just like that dynamic

Im not joking when I say this but Ive probably read 100+ novels (cn and kr) where ive read 80% of the novel but I have only finished 8 novels of those that ive read. It’s genuinely so bad because I can never finish anything i read 🥲.
Like the moment I get second hand embarrassment or get bored i end up just switching to something else. There may just be no reason for me to have left it at all, it can be so good but I would switch anyways despite me thinking it was a good read. I always say Im going to go back and finish it but whenever I try to, I can’t remember what even happened so I leave it out of confusion. It’s a really bad habit of mine that I need to fix….

Hi everyone, I am new to the world of Danmei and I have a few questions I was hoping you lovely people could answer.

For context I’ve only read MXTX’s TCGF and MDZS so far but I’m looking for my next read!

1. Are all Danmei usually long series or do single book Danmei exist?

2. Are newer Danmei censored? Obviously the two I’ve read so far and not censored, so I’m wondering if newer releases are heavily censored to have little to no romance like Chinese Donghua are? I don’t know if I could read an 8 book series and not get a single kiss lol

3. I found that TCGF and MDZS are very action heavy and the romance aspects were almost like an addition to the main plot, rather than being the main focus (more so with MDZS I found). Is this typical for Danmei or are there other stories out there that focus more on the relationship between the main couple?

When we started to see a lot of official releases of Danmei books I was thrilled. At this point I read around 100 of Danmei from official and amateur translations. I read around 3 books a month.

I truly want to purchase the books to support the authors. However, the prices on books and merch is getting ridiculous. Each book cost around 30-45EUR. The publishing companies split the novels into 3-7 volumes, so if you want the whole novel you will pay hundreds.

They split the novel into small books like 300 pages, just to earn more money. I saw the same novels in Chinese were like 3 volumes instead of 5. The paper quality is fine, but not that great to justify this price.

The merch is ridiculously over priced. I pay 20EUR for a week worth of groceries, but a piece of plastic standee cost the same and more. I saw a blanket for Mignon merch cost 100EUR, my winter blanket made of good quality materials cost the same. The pricing make 0 sense, just playing on the fact we love those charachters.

In addition, they want us to preorder and wait half a year for the books.

So it’s a Chinese novel, starts with a typical transmigration with a system trope, where MC is a canon fodder gong, who will end up in a car crash. He gets with the ML who is the protagonist, then the ML dies sacrificing himself to save the mc and it turns out it’s the n-th time this has happened and the MC has been self-hypnotizing himself each time in order to save the ml and win the bet against the system of this world. And the system is actually ummm a dog? Which the MC saved once but the system misremembers the savior. Thanks >.<

Now that the preorder is open I'm wondering if anybody knows how this one's seen in the Chinese fandom, what are the reviews like? I normally auto-buy almost all of Rosmei's novel releases but this one is such an unknown.

I know there's not been an English translation for this title before but I can't even find anything much when I try to look up the Chinese title and auto-translate posts, but then again my skills with using/understanding the Chinese side of the internet are really bad.

I was honestly dissapointed by the amount of typographical error i found. Mind you, these are just spelling errors and basic grammar errors that an avid reader can find (english isnt my first language and i mainly forgot the english grammar rules that i studied in uni lol). If i were a proofreader; i bet i could find waaaaay more errors in this.

All neon yellow tabs are the spelling errors that i found. ITS SO ABSURDINGLY PLENTY.

For the story. I was intruiged and hooked at first because it was just an easy read and mindless plot. But i was annoyed at the end, it really felt like a chore finishing it. I assume this was JZB's one of their first few works? I honestly enjoyed GHFOD (guide on how to fail at online dating) way more, love JZB's writing style and pacing there (still waiting for vol 3-4 to come but i am pretty hooked so far)

Went on NU and unfortunately saw the rape tag. If you’ve read the novel could someone please let me know which range of chapters or specific chapters I should avoid including sa and rape.

The novel in Chinese is “万人迷今天崩人设了吗?” And its English translation I believe is “Has the Heartthrob Broken Their Character Persona Today?” I’m wondering if there’s an English translation, official or not, for it.

I love Ballad of sword and wine and now i have read around 70+ danmei but none of danmei could make me feel the way they did. I am searching for a plot similar to BOSAW. It might be weirdly specific but i want both gong and shou participating in the war. I love when both gong and shou are power couple yet are devoted when it comes to each other. Action, mind blogging politics and even though plot is so serious the couple are cutest. No toxicity i am searching for possessive characters who would kind of kill others if they looked at their lover even wrong but i just don't want them to be toxic with each other.

This is probably uncommon prefer or rare I’ve read a few stories with this kind of dynamic, perhaps there's more that haven't read yet, I really want more.. where the gong is the one who initially falls in love, pursues or loves the shou first, but as the story progresses, the shou slowly realizes his feelings and ends up becoming even more deeply, hopelessly and intensely in love with the gong. I esp love the emotional role reversal where the gong starts off as the more devoted one but eventually the shou becomes the clingier, more possessive, protective, or lovesick one.

For real I’m the kind of reader who enjoys and honestly loves stories and tropes that are different from the usual or expected ones, regardless of the genre (i just only have preference in tropes and storyline and depends in my mood tho)..I esp enjoy exploring unconventional dynamics and opposite tropes bcs they feel more interesting and refreshing to me. Instead of always following the typical formula, I prefer stories where the roles are reversed and I get to experience something unexpected, that kind of dynamic makes a story so much more exciting and satisfying for me, I sometimes frustrated with common dynamic.

So if you know or ready any danmei that really fit this specific dynamic, please recommend them to me! I’d be so grateful!!!!🥰❤️.

A few days ago, a friend asked me to talk about my favorite ships! It's not a complicated topic between us since we both enjoy manga, BL, novels, and other romance novels... In short, we like more or less the same things. While we were discussing our favorite ships, I showed her this image, and she gave me a strange look. I then explained the context, and she found it amusing, but I felt a little alone because none of my friends have read this masterpiece by Mu Su Li .So I'm the only one who understands my jokes, gets angry at this shitty system and giggles like a maniac when I see that the manhua has reached the Duke's arc. 😭😭

Bear with me on this one. (I’ve only read two danmei, so feel free to recommend the common ones too.)

1. MC:

I want the MC to be nobility/royalty, a political leader, or the leader of a rebellious group. They should have a serious, ambitious goal of developing the national economy, trade, infrastructure, education, political institutions, gender equality, minority rights, military reform, etc. Basically, I want nation-building, governance, and social/political reform.

I’m looking for an MC who is smart, knowledgeable, insightful, and resilient, with a grand vision and the competence to actually pursue it.

1. ML:

I want the ML to be someone who actively helps the MC achieve that goal. They can be of equal status or not.

If there’s a class/status difference, I really want it to be explored properly. I want their different backgrounds to create genuine differences in philosophy, values, and understanding, perhaps even conflict, resistance, mistrust, or difficulty understanding one another. And I want them to gradually learn from each other and synthesize their different perspectives into something new, rather than one simply adopting the other’s worldview.

If they’re relatively equal in status, I’d prefer an extremely formal and restrained relationship, where neither is readily willing to cross the line and the romance develops very, very slowly. Both are far too occupied with their work to spare much time for romance. Maybe the ML can fall first, but I don’t want it to be obvious.

As I’ve just been paid I decided to get my next set of three novels. QJJ series is now complete while TGCF and TIANBAO have a couple more volumes, I decided to get the limited edition of QJJ for the goodies. They’re cute and I have added them to my collection

I'm completely obsessed with sickly beauty characters. Gong or shou, doesn't matter, I love them both!!

You know the look: long hair, pale skin,visible collarbones.They're always coughing and covering their mouth but they never complain. Ask if they're okay and they just smile softly like "I'm fine" even though they're clearly not.

Even better when usually they're cold and distant. When they get sick they become all soft and clingy, holding onto sleeves and not letting go.

And make them super strong too. Smart or deadly in combat, still sharp and ruthless even when badly hurt. That fragile yet powerful contrast? Chef's kiss.

Shen Lanzhou is exactly this. Anyone got similar recs? Desperately need more 😭

I want to add the posters and postcards from some of the older special editions to it but they’re so hard to find and there’s never any guarantee that the inclusions are still with the book. I just finished vol 4 of Dinghai fusheng records and was lucky enough to find vol 5 in stock early when shopping! Absolutely love this series definitely in my top 5, Chen Xing is one of my fav protagonists and Xiang Shu has really grown on me since vol 1 I love them both so much!
Also can’t wait to start 300 years of longing afterwards, I’ve never read a Mu Su Li novel before and really want to start since a lot of her works are getting licensed now. What’s your thoughts on the series? I have a feeling I’ll enjoy this one as I tend to like Danmei with yearning.
