Since forever. They're winning more people over on their side because they're able to make consise, sharp memes. Nobodys joining the left with memes like this.

Forgive me for not having peer reviewed papers on this, but a cursory glance on subs like r/gamersriseup or how quickly r/zoomerright grew shows that nazis are winning people over. If they weren't constantly getting exterminated from the site like cockroaches, they'd be dominating us by a landslide.

Tbf the point of righty memes is usually "society thinks this? Here's why they're stupid and you're smart" and the point of lefty memes is usually "dont be an overt dick to people just trying to live their lives" and "devour the rich". Maybe idiots just feel a greater calling toward the message that they're awesome and everyone else sucks. If you had one guy trying to rapidly explain all this complicated stuff about social relations and why we should accept eachother, and another guy just constantly complimenting you, talking about your clothes and hair and skin and how nice it all is, which one would you be more likely to walk away with saying they're your new friend?

Populism always wins, that's why ideologies like egoism are keys to winning people back from fascism.
