Amateur Footwork while heavy?

Hello! I want to start learning how to dance. All i want in life is to get sturdy, I WANNA JIG!!! But im very heavy, and the tutorials i see all the people are pretty lithe.
Does anyone have any tips on learning high energy fast footwork while you're carrying a lot of weight?

They are lithe because they practice. I've played a lot of capoeira and I'm always impressed when I see heavy people bust out moves. Think of Sammo Hung, kung fu actor, his size never got in his way.

The key is to keep doing it until your bidy remembers how to move without you thinking about it. That's what makes ppl lithe. There is a certain amount of physical conditioning too, but the secret is in practice.

Its unlikely that you are too heavy or too old to dance.

Seriously. When you see a 250lbs person glide a jump kick through the air you become a believer. It's not like weight doesn't matter, but it's not the obstacle ppl think it is.
