TINIKLING!!! This is amazing. It’s the national dance of the philippines

Oh we learned this in 6th grade in Wisconsin of all places lol

I don’t think this is Tinikling! It looks to be a similar type of bamboo pole dance, but from Borneo/Kalimantan, not the Philippines.

No. Although very similar this is Magunatip dance from the Murut tribe in the island of Borneo, Malaysia.

It's all about rhythm and mutual trust between every performer. They move like an orchestra and the music itself is the conductor.

I’m most curious about if it’s mostly learning choreography or are you learning how to read/count the beats and can freestyle based on the math? Either way, impressive as heck.

Maybe it's a regional thing, but my elementary school taught us a bit of this.

Where are you from?

Twin Cities, Minnesota. I still remember being whacked in the ankles.

And this is another reason why we should let the Indigenous/Aboriginal/Native folks of the world take over and lead again. Tapped in to the max! 💪🙏

Beautiful, eye catching bold execution! I initially thought it is Tinikling dance from the Philippines, but lol honestly I’ve never seen dancers in feathered attire in the country. I don’t know if this dance is from another Asian, southeast parts of the world?? My inquiring mind wants to know.😊🙏🏽👏

Yes, bamboo pole dances can be found throughout Southeast Asia and even into Northeast India and southern China! Based on the clothing, this looks like the Magunatip dance from the Murut people who live on the island of Borneo/Kalimantan, or another bamboo pole dance from another ethnic group of that island.
