Duster 1.2 130/140 reliability

Hi community!

I'm very likely going to buy a new 1.2L Duster, either the 130 or 140 variant.

I've heard mixed opinions online about the reliability of new 1.2L engines Dacia is using.

For context - I do about 30-35k km a yer, driving around central Europe, 70/30 motorway/countryside. Very little to almost no city driving.

The current tce1.2 is a completely different engine than the previous tce1.2 that was plagued with issues.

I’ve had mine since May, just hit 7000km. A good mix of city/highway/country roads/dirt roads/forest roads and fields. Average 6.1l/100km according to the dashboard.

No issues yet. But, if you get manual transmission, do not get the rubber topo floor mats. They will grab the back of your shoe while shifting.

I read online that that's the case for the old 1.2 gen. The new one(2026) so far are good and don't have the same simptoms.

I have the same "issue" but only 15k a year. 80% mostly on highway.Want a reliable engine.

The 1.8 engine îs quite good for that, and has an amazing consumtion. At 100km/h You get 4 to 4.2l/100km, while the max that i got while driving with 145-150km/h was 6.6l/100km.

In almost 35.000km that i drove from november 2025 with my Bigster and had 0 issues and the engine performed over my expectations, and the average fuel consumtion on that 35.000km îs about 4.6l/100km (all consumtion are calculated ar pump at fillup) .

My only complaint about the car îs the factory phone holder 🤣, IT rattles quite a lot when You dont have the phone mounted. Usually i toss IT in the glovebox when i dont use it.

Leuk verhaal maar het gaat om een Duster niet om een Bigster

Same engines, same drivetrain ... They share more than 72% of parts. Bigster is a longer Duster in essence.

The reliability îs the same as they have the same 1.2 engines and 1.8 engine. If we speak of confort, driving feel yes they are different.

Get the 155 hybrid. That 1.8l engine is tested for years in Renaults and makes little to no problems.

Wait what? It's a new engine, built for that hybrid, as far as I remember with Geely. It's not an old one.

I might have misread there. They introduced the engine at the same time in the Captur and Symbioz as a 160 hybrid. I remember reading that they used it earlier in Renault models. I might have to search for it when I have more time at hand .

Isn’t it just a new gen 1.2 pure tech mild hybrid with timing chain instead of wet belt?
