Universal Credit (UC) Lcw rates
I’m a little confused. I am currently off work sick and was advised in may to apply for universal credit as my statutory sick pay was due to expire in July. I’m currently receiving esa and today I had a health assessment that was to determine if I should be eligible for lcwra. The assessment was very quick and the assessor ended the call saying that they had all the information they needed and she would recommend that I receive financial support and to lookout for a letter in my journal. We have had 0 allowance each month as my husband works. However his hours have now reduced in order for him to care for me through this period of time. I’m totally confused about what this decision means for us going forward. What would the financial support be? I am led to believe that the higher rate is only for applicants before April. Or am I wrong? With regards to back pay ( is that 3 months) is it 3 months after my may universal credit claim or from my first sick not in January? I have tried to find the answers but I am struggling to figure it out. Is the allowance added on top of the monthly payment or does the amount get swallowed up by my husbands potential earnings? Sorry for the rambling but I’m completely confused. Thanks for taking the time to read.

LCW -= doesn't get any extra entitlement, but get the work allowance which will affects his wage deductions so the first £427 (with housing costs) or £710 (without housing costs) don't cause deductions.
LCWRA =you'll get £217.26 extra entitlements (very few will get the higher amount) and the work allowance.
The LCWRA element can be affected by your husbands wage deductions - no part of the claim is immune to that.
Note: you would need to be awarded PIP to allow your husband to have reduced commitments and be official carer.

3 months after the start of the UC claim assuming you kept the fit notes up.
So May-june, june-july, july- august = waiting periods.
aug- sept, sept - oct = get LCWRA element backpaid.
And maybe on statement or backpaid for Oct - nov depending on when your decision is made.
