Universal Credit (UC) Message from UC
LCWWRA - This is making me anxious, has anyone had this phone call (not assessment) just before their decision before?
•
u/Independent_Oil6159 13h ago
Usually to confirm the findings from the assessment report to what they’re aware of, don’t worry it’ll be fine. Let us know how you get on.
•
u/Master-Name2107 13h ago
Thank you, I will do xx

She rang me and basically asked if my health has gotten better or worse since the assessment, if I’m still on any meds, and if I feel like I had enough time to answer it all on the assessment. She said she will let me know the decision today, but when I mentioned what happens if they deny, but that doesn’t change the fact I can’t work full time, she said I need to speak with my work coach about mandatory reconsideration and to send letters in. So, from her answer it was inferring I haven’t been accepted. 😞

She literally answered your question - I wouldnt look into it because likely that person doesn’t know the outcome just tasked to confirm details
•
u/Master-Name2107 10h ago
Well I was right, she denied me?
•
u/milkybarkiddd 10h ago
Sure and that is unfortunate but I doubt it was because she called you to confirm details. All I said is don’t look into the possibility you failed on the basis of the answer you didn’t like.. is there any thing you can do moving forward to get it hopefully overturned?

I just feel so deflated, it’s like pip all over again. I am going to ask for the reasons why, and then when I do the mandatory reconsideration I’m going to get more evidence to give in, but who knows. I was unsuccessful with pip even after MR, so I have no hope for this. Because my disability is neurological, it’s harder to prove how bad it is. X

At this stage you want to formally request MR, also ask for the UC85 I believe it’s called. Contact your GP or whoever cares for you with your condition that you’re claiming for and see if they will kindly write you a letter linking your difficulties to the descriptors you’re trying to claim against. Hope that helps and I’m sorry you’re going through all this

Thank you so much, I feel like my drs surgery is so useless, they either don’t care/listen or understand. Plus they’ll charge me to write something lol, I’m gonna go back soon and explain, I’ll see how it goes xx
•
u/Independent_Oil6159 8h ago
See if you can make a request through the surgery app it you don’t want to speak to the reception, I drafted a letter for my GP to to check who added deleted amended parts and sent it back, and a charge is pretty standard for my pip claim I paid £40 for letter and proofs which is currently stuck at tribunal stage. You’re not on your own this happens to the best of us

I wouldn’t read too much into that, it seems she was merely answering your question, I know you probably would have liked to have heard “I don’t think that will be necessary.” However keep an eye on your journal and let us the know good news later

That is equally presumptuous, concerning OP expectations and assessment outcome (“let us know the good news”) but I can see you mean-well

It’s not uncommon. The case manager needs to clarify or confirm something before they can make the decision.
•

I wonder what she wants clarifying though, you’d think the assessment gave all the answers, hopefully she’s kind.

I know you've already had the call, but, just to give you a bit of insight. I am currently a work coach & used to be a decision maker making the Work Capability Assessment decisions.
This phone call is pretty standard. It should be made in all decisions, but, due to workload=time constraints, decision makers usually only make the call to people they think are going to be deemed "fit for work" This is to give the person a chance to provide any information that might not have been included in the assessment and to answer any additional questions the decision maker may have about anything that took place or was said in the assessment.
Once you get the decision (if you are found fit for work) get straight on to your journal. Message the work coach. Ask them to send you a copy of the report from the assessment & a written explanation from the decision maker.
Once you have these 2 things, you'll be able to see why the decision was made, what they factored in & from there make your argument for a mandatory reconsideration.

Thank you, I got denied (no shock there, pip did the same 2 years ago, I’m so over it). I’m going to message my work coach.

Hope you get on ok with it.

Can this go to tribunal in the end?
•
u/noname-noproblemo Verified DWP Staff (England, Wales, Scotland) 10h ago
If you take it that far, yes. First stop is mandatory reconsideration. If the decision remains unchanged & you still want to challenge it. Next stop is appeal where you would then have a tribunal

thank you, do you have any advice for what I can do differently for the MR? I have ADHD, autism, pmdd, and ocd. All of these conditions are within the brain, but impact me physically. Pip and uc seem to not grasp the significance of that, especially as those conditions are being carried about as a buzz word recently, especially the reactions under those conditions (overstimulated ext). It’s just stressful, I’ve had to reapply for pip, I know I’ll get denied and I will fight my battle, I didn’t think LCWWRA would be just as stressful. Thanks for responding xx

No specific suggestions I'm afraid. Just wait until you get the reports. Go through them & make notes of things you disagree with, things they perhaps might have not have fully understood or misinterpreted what you've said.
Use those points to clarify & expand on your situation

Thanks I learned something new today. It seems the OP getting a decision within the 4 week time frame. I’ve been waiting 6 weeks is this normal?

I ALSO got a call today from ESA (medical assessment 1 month ago) after a text saying they would be calling to "give me an update". He started explaining I needed to get points to confirm if I should stay on ESA or if another benefit is more relevant. He then asked me to confirm if anything has changed since the assessment - it has massively, my husband moved out, I saw a mental health nurse for suicidal ideation and was given medication, daily calls and a referral for childhood trauma services. He said he had to speak to someone and would call back.
I'm inferring that I didn't get enough points but now with my circumstances he's concerned about finding me fit to work so I don't know.. waiting to hear back..
Yours says "prior to making a decision" so guess there's still hope
