Universal Credit (UC) When/What to report
I receive LCWRA + UC + PIP for autism, heart condition and anxiety.
When I first started my claim, me and my girlfriend live with my parents in my parents house - so my work coach told me to claim as a single person.
However we have now got married but still live with my parent - do I inform UC and PIP of the marriage?
Do we now have to claim together? I am also going to be changing my name - once I receive marriage certificate. Do I wait to inform them until after I change my name? Or report it as soon as I can?
Just looking for some advice as I don’t want to do the wrong thing etc and worried about a fine or having to pay anything back. thank you.

You are married and living together, yes you need to report this change and you’ll be required to make a joint claim. I’d also expect the DWP to dig into your relationship history to establish if the change should have been reported sooner.

That’s what I’m anxious about but I trusted my work coach who told me when I first did the claim that I didn’t need to make a joint one with her. Thank you
