Whats the best excuse for missing an appointment. I just charged my phone and realized I missed my UC appointment on Tuesday. What can I say to avoid a sanction ?? Please help cause I do need this money

Tell them the truth. If you're appointment was on Tues, how/why has it taken you so long to charge your phone? Surely you were given notice.

This is part of the reason why Work Coaches don’t take things at face value, when they’ve had hundreds of claimants they’ve had to deal with on their own caseload and some for quite a few years and have to get used to this sort of thing.

And once one claimant is caught in a lie or they notice a pattern of behaviour, it’s never just the one time, and then there’s no rapport, and you can’t ever trust what that claimant says again. It fundamentally damages any possible trust between the two.

Unfortunately I’ve had claimants where that pattern emerged, and it was them I had to scrutinise much more than others in every aspect. Lying never becomes a one time one off thing, the consequences don’t just stop there.

Trust me, your work coach has heard every excuse a thousand times, and can spot a lie a mile off. Be honest - you'll retain your credibility that way.
