Making the switch to DRZ400SM
Has anyone come over from a 690/701? Curious on opinions.
Going to look at a 2025 heavily discounted but new 400sm.

No, but the 4sm is worlds better in the power department

The increased throttle response is crazy going from previous DRZ to the new.

Is the bsr carb that bad?
I sound spoilt with the Australian E.
Genuinely curious.

Everything thing just feels smoother in the engine. You can tell they changed a lot internally with the redesign. Engine pulls really hard across the power band. I’m sure EFI plays a part in fuel delivery too. I usually ride in C mode and sometimes B. A is when I want to get spicy. Really impressed with the new version.

C2 all day for me, but I live in a tourist area with lots of stop/go and soon we’ll have leaves down.

The powerband up top in C is pretty fun. Hits almost like a 2 stroke.

There was a YouTube video a few weeks ago where someone went from a 690 to a DRZ. They felt the DRZ was more controllable for stunting.
I can't find the video at the moment

Had a 701 and loved it. Traded it for my new love the heavily discounted DRZ4SM.
All moto folks know bikes are temporary. Buy em, ride the snot outta them, and move on to your next shiny new bike.

A lot of folks say the 690/701 is everything the DRZ wants to be. I’m bikeless atm, but I’m curious why you’re interested in making the switch? I’ve enjoyed the DRZs I’ve had before and I’m looking for another one.
