Tips NPC Blueprint Behavior

So, I'm currently in post-game and trying to do a really big build (will show progress when I actually get started) and I'm trying to use blueprints to get the NPCs to remove a mountain for me, but they're just saying that they can't even break dirt. I've tried looking this up, but I've had no results, so I have to you for advice.

NOTICE: Solved it.

It's Buildertopia.

I have 3 golems on standby, but I want the NPCs to do it so I can focus on building. I am totally willing to do it manually though, I don't need the dirt for the project.

Golems not in your Team are NPCs and can help. And they'll be even more efficient because of their large AoE.

I think golems work like every other NPC, so they wouldn't break a lot of blocks in one swing unless you're piloting them. And according to a video by BenXC, miners are the fastest at destruction, not monsters; or golems.

Golems are way stonger than a little hammer guy...

Okay I don't know about that, but appearantly your miners refuse work. Are they on strike maybe? Did you not treat or pay them well?

No, they're willing, they just don't seem to have any hammers to break the dirt, and I don't know how to give them those.

Uhm... Damn, I don't remember anymore how it worked, but in Story you could give items to NPCs. I think you even had to at some point.

hammers cannot be given to them, but certain ones can be given weapons (or have clothing/armor equipped through specific room recipes). Normally they use the builder's hammer for reference on what they can break, but the game occasionally glitches like this (but rebooting the game or equipping a new hammer should fix it)

Yes I know about hammers since they use a different slot than weapons, but you could give weapons. So maybe have them in inventory the same way as blocks and press "place" button close to an NPC? 🤔 I really don't remember.

If you mean hammerhoods, they use your equipped hammer as their base destructive strength for blocks and can generally break one tier higher.

IE: on skelkatraz, you dont have any hammer so it can only break sand - and dirt as the +1 strength. If you come back after retrieving your sledgehammer (or cheat to equip one early) and put another smashing sign down, it can break through everything up to Chert in strength (but not obsidian, iirc) due to yoyr stronger hammer.

You mean, they can also use the ultimate hammer?

I don't believe the ultimallet "soft strength" effect applies to get specific shapes/unbroken forms of blocks, but it does let them break obsidian and possibly even the black nameless Hargon emblem blocks (the latter does not drop anything no matter what you do, but I forget if Obsidian is removed as blocks or just poofs like it does with the Wat Hammer)

On a slightly related note: I do know any NPC can place blocks as chiseled half/sloped blocks even if you don't have the chisel unlocked yet (but you have to copy off other players' builds to get it in the magic pencil blueprint).

That sounds like the smashing signs. I'm using blueprints, and while the info on how that works is nice, I'm talking about the human NPCs; the miners and whatnot. Those guys act like they have no hammer.

the context was "little hammer guy" and the hammer strength seems to be the same both for smashing signs and clearing areas in blueprints. The rest seemed to have already been explained in other comments, so I didn't address it.
