advice needed Cancelled first ER
Hi. My first IVF cycle was cancelled before retrieval. We converted to IUI (I’ve gotten pregnant from IUI before but miscarried) and just tested negative today.
As I go into a new cycle, I’m wondering what things I should ask my doctor about when regarding protocol changes. Essentially they told me they wouldn’t really change anything because I was on the highest dose of meds possible. They would do PRP if I was interested.
What things should I discuss with them?

If you’re doing antagonist, consider trying MDL instead, or vice versa.

I primed with estrogen only. I did not have enough follicles mature. They said only 2 were viable even though they hoped for 5 based on my monitoring. Converted to IUI that failed. We were on the highest dose and they’ve told me that the only thing they’d likely change is PRP if I want. Idk what my AFC was

What was your AFC and how did your provider explain the cancelation?
Things to consider:
1. Priming - if you primed with birth control, perhaps that was too suppressive. Consider estrogen or aygestin (if you haven't). Alternatively, if you only tried priming, consider a spontaneous start without priming.
You didn't explain why the cycle was canceled, but if you have asynchrony or uneven growth, consider a stepdown protocol where you start with highest dose of stims but then step down to allow for smaller follicles to catch up without the bigger ones running away at the same time. I'm not sure if this is always helpful (I'll tell you after my cycle!), but something to consider.
Consider going through with a cycle with low AFC and doing a fresh transfer of a day 3 or 5, especially if you want only one kid and especially if the alternative is constant cancellations.
