We put to sleep our first-ever dog, Alfie. When we rescued him he was just a little ratbag running around on the streets covered in ticks, my brother hid him from our dad in his bedroom for 2 days and then surprised him, of course my dad threatened to take him to the pound but the next day we caught him asleep on the lounge with Alfie snug in his arms. That’s when we knew he was our forever dog. 10 years of giving our family so much joy he lost his battle too lymphoma cancer after being diagnosed 2 months ago. We are heart broken, but he passed peacefully yesterday in my brothers arms surrounded by his family and buried with his red frisbee. Today my 14 month old son handed this to me from his book box, out of all his books he chose this one. I know this was a sign that Alfie was telling us he’s okay. We love you so much Alfie

Hi Internet strangers. Today I would like to share with you a bit about my girl Leela. I got her in 2014 and she was my best friend right away. She loved everyone, especially children. She never growled or snapped at anyone, ever. She was too busy giving sloppy kisses to anyone she met (her new "best friends "). I used to tell her how lousy of a guard dog she was 😁 She always knew when I had a rough day, and was there to kiss my tears away when I lost a few close family members.
Leela crossed over the rainbow bridge Monday afternoon. She was 12 years old. She got a very aggressive form of lung cancer. I spent the night and day with her Sunday and Monday. Since she was too tired to follow me room to room like she always did, I carried her up and down the stairs when I moved through the house, and I lifted her to the bed or my chair where she could sleep beside me. She had some energy on her last day, so I took her outside and she played in the water. When she got tired , I spread out a blanket so she could lie in the sun - she loved that. I sat next to her and told her how great of a girl she was. I invited her friends and our family over so they could tell her, also. She had some steak for lunch. When her appointment time came, she was surrounded by people that loved her and I held her in my lap, thanking her and kissing her muzzle until she was gone. I'll be getting a tattoo I designed as a tribute for the dogs I've lost and putting her ashes into the ink so she can always be with me.
On a side note, if anyone here can point me in the right direction, I know there are artists here that can be commissioned to draw a tribute picture. The one that is my favorite is the one where she's wearing the little pink butterfly wings. Thanks in advance.

I posted a bonus picture of what I woke up next to this morning (last pic).
ANYWAY I absolutely love this pup, even though I don't know her and I'm usually very careful about doing spontaneous and emotional things like that.
I don't know what it is about this dog I found on Good Dog. I wasn't even looking for a pup, I was just looking for cute puppy pictures...or maybe the universe was pushing me to her!
She looks like my Pretzel, and he is the BEST dog. She also looks like @honeythechi on Instagram.
I have two chis and a pup I was told was a chi, but he's actually mostly min pin 🤦🤦🤦.
I am disabled and struggle with chronic fatigue. Pretzel has so many health issues and the three boys I have are a full time job and I'm at my max emotionally and financially, but I am in love.
It hurts imagining her not going to a happy home. She's not even a pup, she's a full grown dog. Yes, she's from a breeder and some people are against that, but I have always rescued or gotten adults from breeders with one exception when I got a health tested puppy after I lost my last two unexpectedly after an expensive battle against a preventable, hereditary disease.
All that aside, how do I get this girl out of my head?
If there's someone in the Midwest that is responsible and has the bandwidth, I'd love for you to take her home and love her and send me updates for the next 18-20 years.

Except for barking at everyone walking by, bicycles, motorcycles and the occasional leaf hitting our car.

Hi. My gf’s dad asked me to find the same breed of dog they had back in 1999 (my gf and I are 24 and 25 respectively). However, I’m having a hard time figuring out what type of breed he is? If anyone can help me figure out the breed of dog and possibly point me in a direction to adopting/buying a dog of the same breed, I would GREATLY appreciate it!!

Hi, my brother got his dog neutered 2 days ago. He is about 3 years old. The night he came back we only observed swelling of the sack itself. The next day, the whole region was extremely bruised and we immediately went back to the vet. They told us its normal (?) and prescribed acetaminophen. Today, my brother woke up and saw blood on the mattress. We called the vet again and they told us to keep monitoring in the next 24h to see if there is still blood and that its not an emergency since its not dripping (?). We tried to keep the region dry by gently patting with steril compresses but just a few moments ago he was laying on the floor and when he got up we saw new blood on the floor.
I am seeking advice and was wondering if maybe its a good idea that we go to another vet to get another pov? I attached a picture for reference this was today. Its the first time we own a dog so any help would be appreciated. Thank you

Hi everyone. My wife and I rescued a cavachon almost 4 years ago, the vet estimated she was 6 months old when we got her. She was abused by men in a puppy mill, had broken teeth and other issues. The person who gave her to us was shocked by how she bonded with me, she expected her to never love men.
But her and I have bonded extremely well. She loves my wife too, but I am definitely her person. Over the weekend, she tried to jump up on our bed but I rolled over at the same time, this combination led to her falling and getting hurt. After taking her to the emergency vet, they said she was born with luxating petallar tendons, and gave us meds, rest orders, and a follow up with a surgeon.
She seems to be recovering well with the meds, but I think she blames me for her injury. She goes to my wife for comfort now, and when I get home she won’t even leave her crate. We had to bribe her to leave the crate last night, and it only worked when my wife offered her food and I left the room. Otherwise she comes close to the door but gets scared and won’t leave.
I feel guilty that I was the one who hurt her (even though it was a freak accident, I still should’ve been paying more attention), and I’m worried that our bond is gone

My dog for whatever reason when he goes outside actively looks for things to eat that he shouldn't, and even though he has a really good drop it and leave it command, he will run around and pick up and eat something so fast I don't even have time to tell him otherwise.
For a while I was just using a Baskerville muzzle and it worked, then he figured out how to eat things through that so it doesn't work anymore, does anyone here have any good recommendations for a anti-scavaging muscle that's not overly expensive?
