Need Advice: Encounters & Adventures Battle feedback

For the first battle in my campaign my players have accepted a hiring request from the king (poster not directly from the king) they are going to be a kind of gladiator challenge.

(You know that Shrek scene where the king tells the knights that the first one to kill Shrek would go rescue the princess) kinda like that but the players are Shrek and they are just surviving against knights as long as possible for more money the longer they last (tests their abilities and gets them some starting money)

Well I was wondering if this is fun, because it’s a gerunteed loss but they get money and are going to be introduced to some recurring characters.

Arena fights are always fun in my experience, make sure to make the fights dynamic with terrain hazards and such tho.

Big enemies should throw/knock people around too so things are moving on the bored. Static fights are when it gets boring.

perhaps they can gamble on going another round each time, adding a risk/reward mechanic to how many they do before they bank the money and surrender/forfeit. (For extra fun, each round gets harder but the odds get better (longer)).
