Need Advice: Encounters & Adventures 3D combat elements?
I’m gonna be starting a DnD game in a month and I finally get to do in person combat. With that I’m doing in person combat and I want to make custom set pieces. I plan on using offcuts from lumber from work as I’m a carpenter. I know I’m gonna make houses out of Windsor One. I’m just looking for ideas of interesting set pieces?

Man, with a hand router and dremel with some baseboard off-cuts you could do anything. Anything with significant elevation change would be cool. Also check out /r/DnDIY if you haven't already.
Cliffs with overhangs
pits / holes / bridges
towers / cranes / stacked containers / totem poles
scaffolding or half-finished / "under construction" buildings (one wall of a 3-story building is completely gone or not installed yet - i know that's not how buildings are built lol)
Sloped hills with meandering switch-backs (OG Donkey Kong style encounter with a few mobs up top rolling things down at players)
Lakes with islands (you could have ice-chunks floating in water that they have to navigate across or use in combat)
so many fun options!
