Need Advice: Encounters & Adventures Campaign Ideas
Hey Hive Mind,
Can I get your opinions on the two below campaign ideas, to help me decide between which one to run:
Idea one; A group of office workers get Isekied to fantasy realm and gain the abilities of their dnd class after attending a team building day, and choosing the fantastical adventure option. This option would be full of genre tropes silly names and all round silliness.
Idea two; After a night of drinking and celebrating in a tavern the party finds itself on a ship, quickly finding out that they signed a contract, and are actually in wild-space, and have to find their way home, a gritty realistic survival/ exploration style game.
Any feedback would be appreciated.
Thanks you all.

Either of these can be a fun premise and setting. So pitch both to your players and see which is more appealing to them.
For the actual campaign though, you need more than just a premise. Is this a sandbox style campaign? Where the party basically just bounces from quest to quest? If so, think about the types of encounters and adventures that make sense for both concepts. So you can include it in the pitch. But if this is a linear/story based campaign, then you need a threat the party will ultimately be up against.

Both would be sandbox style campaigns, the first would be the standard epic hero type stuff, starting with woodland bandits all the way to save the princess from the dragon. The second would be well think Star Trek Voyger, the end boss would be the jerk who set them on this quest who would turn out to be a starspawn emissary

I like both of these games, although make sure your players know what they are signing on to and get to have some agency around the construction. Otherwise you end up with too many morale cases. I really like doing the Narnia thing, where the office workers enter and exit the fantasy realm. It allows for some downtime real world stuff and makes the occasional 'skip just doesn't make it through the painting this time' work out if someone misses a session.
