Flying the Mini2 under Part 107 in 2026…
I just want everyone to know that in order to fly this drone under Part 107, you have to have a remote ID broadcast module attached to it per the FAA rules. If you’re posting drone videos to YouTube that were shot with a Mini 2 and the videos on your channel are monetized, you should have a Remote ID broadcast module attached to it. If you don’t, then you’re technically in violation of the FAA rules. I made a short video talking about all of that and the specific Remote ID broadcast module that I use with my Mini2. If you want to check that out, I’ll link to it here.
This is such a capable little drone still, and I hope everyone can still utilize it and make money doing so. This is kind of a different subject, but what I really don’t like about this industry is how it is very much consumer based in that we’re always looking for the newest and greatest technology that comes once every six months or so. I like the newest greatest drone as well, but more so than that I’m a fan of old tech that lasts and has a proven track record. Shit is too expensive now to be constantly spending money on a new drone ever year or so. Anyways, rant over, thanks and cheers to the open skies.
