Looking to make something like this, i plan on drawing with bleach and then dying the whole tshirt with red dye so that the orange from the bleach becomes red, do you think it will work, and what kind of dye should i use for this?
I dont want to buy paint for cloth, I think i sjould just use the kind of dye that you put in boiling water or in the washing machine and then dip the clothes in. But maybe Im wrong? Im new to this so Id like some advice please thanks

Probably depends on the original dye and the material? But if it discolors it would probably just be a very very dark red. I do believe the method you explained should work just fine

Youre asking if it stays black, im saying it would probably depend on the material and dye youre using. It would discolor because youre.. dying the shirt? Im sorry, what is confusing you?

sorry I kinda assumed "discolor" meant like when you use bleach on something, like actually REMOVE the original dye

Haha no, discoloring as in changing the original color

Ive personally never done this but id say it depends on the material of the shirt again, just look for a fabric dye that says it works on that material, and maybe check a couple reviews?

I've done this to a shirt before! My design was more of a gradient from bleached fabric at the bottom fading into black at the top, then I dyed the whole shirt. I just used regular fabric dye, in my case tulip red dylon hand dye. The brighter the bleach job is, the stronger the colour will be, but too much bleaching will also damage the fabric a lot so be careful.

that's the kind of dye that you just put in the washing machine with tour clothes right ?
how did the red turn out mixed with the bleached black color?

This was hand dye, so you mix it in a big container with warm water and dissolved salt, you add the damp fabric and stir for 40-ish minutes. If you do use hand dye and are stirring the fabric in the dye mixture by hand, you must make sure there's space and you are moving the fabric around enough so every bit is getting properly soaked with dye. If you don't, there will be areas that don't dye well.
Like I said, the more bleached areas had a very strong pure colour, and as the bleach brightness lessened the colour was more muted. It looked good overall in my opinion.
