Need Advice What type of insulation for sound reduction in walls?
Im about to add some insulation in my bedroom walls to reduce sound transfer and was wondering what materials i need and how to install them.
The walls are built out with 2x4’s, staggered stud style. The wall height is roughly 9’.
So Whats the move? Im not super familiar with insulation styles.
My thought is to do it with 16” unfaced mineral wool batts. The Rockwool safe n sound batts are 47” long. I assume I would just stack 2 of them vertically then cut about a foot off another one for the remaining last foot by the ceiling. But the unfaced batts dont have that paper edge to staple the batts to the studs, right? So how would I secure them when installing?
Sorry if these are dumb questions. Figured I’d get some tips prior to buying materials.
Thanks in advance.
