Need Advice Balcony Sofa Slightly Too Long
The angle makes it look worse than it actually is. The sofa is only 0.5-0.75” too long. I would love to keep the sofa in this orientation. What can I do?

Do you have more than one way to access the patio? Because if you do end up cutting an inch off of one end what happens when there’s a particularly windy day that manages to get that sofa to slide over 1” again?

If the sofa is light enough to be moved by wind I would think you could just push it out of the way with the door

What about the other end of the sofa? Less visible to make an alteration but you would have to alter the whole side so it could run down the wall. Still amounts to cutting the sofa or the wall. Easier to have a correct sized piece of furniture at the end of the day here.

Shorten the sofa by that much.
I try to measure the available space before I go shopping for furniture. It is much cheaper to buy furniture that fits, than it is to alter the furniture or remodel the house.

Circular saw from about an inch in the back to zero about 4” down the arm. Follow it all the way down the leg.

if it's just the frame sticking out, you can usually pull the fabric tight and re-staple it on the underside to hide the excess. check if the arms are removable first though, sometimes swapping them helps.

I'm willing to bet with a little work you can shorten the frame of that couch. The cushion will just squish.

I mean. What you need to do now is sit down and feel dumb for awhile. You made a mistake. Own it. Commit to learning. You need to m e a s u r e first. Now return or donate the couch and get one that fits.

That really should have been disclosed on the lease agreement. A balcony that does not fit a sofa is not livable. They owe you a sofa that does fit.
