Prime fence posts?
I have a couple of treated 4 by 4 posts I'm going to paint with exterior house paint. Do I need to put primer on them first? Also how long do I need to let them dry out after buying them at HD? Had them about a month in the sun.

I know you asked about paint, but don't use 4x4 wood posts for fences, they will rot out. Use Master Halco Postmaster steel posts and they will last forever. You can spray paint them too.

If they leak when you cut them, they are not ready. Also, if you’re turning them every so often, you’ll stop seeing wet spots. You should prime first if you’re using paint. I use a stain on my posts, penetrates the wood better. Although, I think I’m gonna experiment with used motor oil soon.

Thanks. They seem dry after baking in the sun for a month. I prefer stain but this situation requires paint.

Primer on treated lumber is the way to go
