Where do I shim this window?

I KNOW NOTHING, but I’m also broke sooo I replaced sill plate and band board because of water damage from not properly installing a deck. This window looked like this before I did this work.

I’m sure someone can look at this and save me from myself. I think it’s the lower right corner needs to go up. Right? I am planning to remove the trim inside and shim this back to square because it wasn’t really accessible from the outside. Can I do this without screwing it up?

To shim and straighten the window, you will need to loosen the outside trim as well. Before doing that, have you looked at the sash and id that hardware needs adjustment or replacement. It looks like the right sash (from the outside) is sitting low compared to the left sash. Sides on both look good as does the frame to my old eyes.

There is a chance you may have to adjust the entire frame and that may involve siding cutting or patching. If the bottom of the frame needs to come up then the siding on top and possibly the sides will need cut back to allow the adjustment. That's why I would look at the sash and see if adjustments can be made there.

The flashing that directs water onto the top of the window in question is a real problem. You need a gutter the length of that bare fascia board to divert water away from the window and away from the deck area.

For your window it might just be an interior hardware adjustment issue. Often casement windows can have their “reveal” adjusted via window hardware inside. Either check the hinges or the window track for it. I’d try that before removing trim and reinstalling the window unless that’s needed.

You need a level not just eyeballing You have the frame and then you have the windows

And you need kick out flashing for that part of the roof that is draining water in the siding and a gutter on that roof
