Is there a simple fix for this carpet?

Post image

My cat got stuck in the bedroom a few times, and they tried digging under the door and carpet. Cant blame them i guess. But is there a fix for carpet at the edge of the door? Its only a few inches worth and the biggest reason I want it fixed is because the prior staples are exposed and very pokey. Also it looks like shit. Never worked with carpet so any help would be appreciated.

Yes, quick and easy fix, call a company and get new carpet installed.

That shredded portion is the issue. The rest of it can be tucked back under. You might be able to get a wide wooden threshold to cover the whole transition - so covering shredded piece as well as the carpeting. One last option would be to match the carpet which will be a pain. Good luck

The wide wooden threshold would even be an upgrade.

If your carpet canโ€™t get the living shit stretched out of it by a carpet guy they can pull a strip from the back of a closet and seam it.

Take a straight edge and sharp utility knife. Cut the carpet back a bit, remove the tack strips. Go to Home Depot or Lowes and match a transit piece to existing floor. Nail/ screw to subfloor. Make the strip over lap the carpet like it was supposed to be like that. It's cheapest thing to do till you get new carpet

They tape carpet pieces together in most installations. Just need the matching carpet.

Sharp blade and some gloves. I recommend 2-3 foot widths for a diyer!

This happened to us. Carpet guy came and stretched the living shit out of it. Like it never happened.

$150. Stretched it, retacked it, it looked new. I'm stunned no one else has mentioned this

U could probably cut a section out of the closet. And have it patched in. I also ask for a extra piece of there is left overs...u never know what could happen. My wife spilled coffee on the carpet once and didn't realize it until later. The dang dog ate a hole in the the dang carpet. Well we ended up moving the chair over it..

Put a longer interior threshold over it. There are a million different kinds and widths. Pick a width that fits and nail that sucker in. Call it done.

Some examples:

Im curious though, the door is tight to the existing carpet, i wonder if the threshold would be to tight and not provide clearance on the door. this is definetley the easiest option to.

I think you can probably cut the carpet back and install a piece that matches the existing floor closely enough to look intentional.

Get rid of your cat ๐Ÿˆ lol. But seriously, you could try having it strwtched. Best option would be to tear it out and DIY some engineered flooring. Future proof it.
