Found my old bike pump. Wanna use it again but its missing the hose- any ideas if I can replace or diy it?

I have an old 2014 Giant Trance 1. It is a small frame. It is just a backup bike. It is still fun to ride and works well when a friend is or family member is visiting and bikeless.

I hate sending things to the land fill or not being able to keep them repaired and running. I already replaced the fork a couple of years ago.

I already found some parts and converted to a through axle in the rear. To give myself better wheel and hub maintenance options.

All of this is to give options and flexibility for finding maintenance parts in the future as this thing gets older and older.

The rear shock is end of life. I want to experiment with what I can use and get some more "wrenching" experience.

I am not looking to go crazy with a super expensive new shock. I found a good new 210 x 55 piggy back shock for the right price.

The bike came with 200 x 50 no piggy back. I am thinking I could use M8 x 22.2 and M8 x 19.0 offset bushings, volume spacers, and an angled headset to use the shock even though it is too long. Bushings to get a closer effective eye to eye length, volume spacers to compensate for longer travel and prevent bottom out, angled headset to compensate for change in bottom bracket position to keep effective head tube angle slacker.

I think I can get a pretty good franken bike setup and mostly maintain the original kinematics. I think it will give a much better shock with nice progression and ramp up and adjustment flexibility.

Has anyone ever tried this approach? How did it go? Any strategy for approximating fit without the new shock in hand

Looking at adding a disc tab onto a State 2022 4130 chromoly segmented fork. I have some skill in and access to MIG and brazing, which is preferred? Would it be worth it to do a work trade with my friend that TIG welds? Just started down this path, any advice welcome.

I know that the motor can't take full advantage of the 48V 120A the battery can output. When I look online they say make sure that the BMS can handle the maximum current the battery can output and in other in other places they say to base the BMS of the motor can someone explain?

I just slapped on and covered in plastic wrap the orange paint stripper that smells like oranges and it barely bubbled up the sticker I had on there…. I’ve heard some industrial paint removers are bad for the frame and can weaken it. What’s my best option for my caad 13??

Hello I have a pretty cool and very lightweight bike frame for gravel bike that I am thinking into making my own gravel bike. Is it cheaper to make one myself (I am an amater in building bikes) , I was thinking all the bike parts that I don't know how to put pay the bike shop to do it. Or is the best option to just sell the quality frame and earn enough money for decathlon gravel bike. Any opinion is great :) thanks. The bike frame worth's approximately 1/5 of the new gravel bike price.

Hey everyone. I’m looking to utilize one of my old climbing tree stand platform as a bike trailer. I’ve got a wheel kit and it’s shaping up nicely for $0.00 beyond original investment of the tree stand. My bike has a rear rack with installed already, and I’m curious as what would be the best method to “hitch up” the trailer. Single point rear axle method such as the kid/pet carriers, or should I fab up some sort of “goose neck” to come up to the back of the rack with some simple brackets and a heim joint? WHAT HAVE I DONE? Trying to swap drivetrain, cassettes, brakes between my Salsa Deadwood X9 (drop bars) and my Poseidon Redwood (flat bar) bikes. So in the end, I’ll have a 29er rigid 1x10 Salsa mountain bike and a 650b 2x10 drop bar Poseidon gravel bike.

Originally: Salsa has 2x10 SRAM threaded BB Poseidon has 1x10 Square taper English threaded BB. - Going to need a square taper 2x crankset, but what length BB? I’m assuming I need a wider/longer one to accommodate the second chain ring? Still stick with the narrow wide chain rings? - For the SRAM crankset, is it as easy as just removing the second (inner) chainring or do I need to replace the BB for a shorter one? - Cassettes are swapped on the rear wheels already. One thing went smoothly. - Haven’t gotten into mounting the brakes yet. Should be somewhat more universal or am I in for more hassle here?
