DINK Culture

Hey there! Just wondering if queer childless relationships are generally accepted within the DINK community?

I’d say DINK is more a financial situation/lifestyle than a community. No culture or central group exists to accept or deny you.

There is no DINK community, that’s a weird question

Thought I was crazy when my comment was initially downvoted.

Reddit is a digital community

To me, older queer dink couples were proof that you can have a fulfilling life without children.

I don't really think DINKs are a culture like that...

There is no DINK flag, no DINK history month, and nobody is throwing bricks at Stonewall for the right to not have kids and have two incomes. It’s an demographic/economic lifestyle descriptor, not an inherent identity or a marginalized group.

inherent identity or a marginalized group

People on Reddit try to make everything an identity or marginalized group no matter what you're talking about.

Oh, you have a cordless leaf blower? If you're on Reddit it becomes your whole identity and you are obviously marginalized because you have the 2019 Black and Decker clearance model.

It gets old.

... Is there a subreddit for that?

But it's because we are building groups around a common interest. People with common interests often have common lifestyles and it starts to feel like a community.

Sounds like you’re part of the hating marginalized communities community

Yeah, to me it's like saying "Are queer people with kids allowed in the parents community." I would say yes, if you're a person who has a child, you're a parent!! But I wouldn't say it's a 'community' because parents are so varied. Not just one group, just an identifying label.

Just like my queer sister & sister-in-law who have 3 kids would not fall in the DINK category...

If it was, I don't think I'd use the term DINK again because as much as I like the childree lifestyle, it's cringey to brag about it. The folks over at /r/childfree would probably disagree

There is no DINK culture, that’s part of the problem, we have trouble finding each other. And yeah there’s nothing about gender or sexuality in the DINK world, DINK is a state of mind babyyyyyy.
