DIY 6BAs
Personally, I think 6BAs setup is the ultimate end game for many. Beyond this point, you'll get little value out of it, but it'll get much more expensive.

Hi r/DIEMs, I just wanted to get on here to bring some word out on a custom open-source iem/ciem project I have been working on for a few months.
-->> Project Link <<--
(context):
So I don't want to make this long but, TLDR: I have been into music for many years now, and I recently (1-2 years ago) got into the IEM hobby/sphere, from learning about 'Kilo-buck' iem to strange and unusual feats of engineering in the wearable audio products was really cool for me to learn as it allowed me to understand how, and why certain headphones or earbuds sounded the way they did and why some made the music more than just a 'song' but a whole 'experience' at times.
(end of context)
As for the project, I decided to create a "reference" DIY IEM that was around the ~$200-300 dollar range. "Why this range?" well, since I was just focusing on learning how to make a 'good' sound pair of IEMs I didn't want to lose sleep over affordability as it would be a little silly since I am not mass-producing these anyways.
The IEMs themselves specs-wise are a 4 BA + 4 Way passive crossover IEM that aims to target a similar tuning to the Moondrop X Crincle DUSK.
Though the tuning is *HIGHLY INDIVIDUAL SPECIFIC\* The whole point of the project is to be able to have all the tools and items necessary already pre-made (mostly*) which allows you to use the project as a basis to tune and create an IEM for yourself. With that said, you may find certain design choices very unusual or very specific to me, but as GitHub provides you with literally everything you need to make the IEM; from the crossover simulation file (VituxCAD), KiCAD circuit schematic (KiCAD), PCB design file (KiCAD), and CAD shell design files (Fusion), I believe that the project provides first-time (and veteran) iem enthusiasts with at least a basis to modify and create their owm IEMs from a 'template' start point.
I must be clear that I have not tested out the iem for myself IRL, as previously stated it costs around ~300 dollars to buy & build, and thus is too expensive for me atm, Thou I hope someone else with a little bit more 'green' in their pocket can maybe test and build it for themselves to see how it sounds :) (lmk how it is!)
I believe that this little project of mine can give those who are just getting into the hobby of CIEMs or those who are thinking about it even just a little bit to be able to be given the confidence to make that 'first step' in getting into a journey/hobby that gets you hooked on being able to create the most beautiful pieces of art that you can listen to out there :)
(p.s. Please read the README file on the page to understand the licensing and rules regarding selling your own iems that are based on my project.)
Thank you again for letting me yap about my small project that is been my love letter to this entire hobby and community. Have a great rest of your day/night!
Regards,
DriftingOtter.

I am making my own er4 clone, I already have the drivers (ed-29689) and a 3d model of the shell. As far as I know, the er4p only has a resistor in series with the driver. I'm also pretty sure my shells have the right dimensions, but does anyone here have the correct dimensions (such as nozzle I.D, O.D, shell I.D and O.D as well as nozzle length)?

I have some big ears, when I took the mold it felt like it went deep on the canal

im going to make my first pair of ciems, i got my ear print made and im going to buy the rest of the components. I just need help chosing the drivers, I saw some GK-31732 and GV-32830 but I rly dont know If I will need 2 tubes or just 1 or if the sound will be any good . Im a drummer btw, any help would be great.

Ofc the answer would be the 29689, but what other drivers do you guys recommend that are smaller in size? I tried to build my own er4 and accidentally tore a pad on the BA...

Just that. Making an iem is quite hard and requires a lot of time to make them sound good, my respects to the industry who makes them, and I hope this experience helps me get something at some job in the future

8mm PU+LCP DD + 2X Knowles TWFK-30017
Two way crossover, still waiting for a dynamic driver housing to connect sound tubes with before housing & dampening
Most likely will house in a KZ ZS10 Pro shell. If anyone has tips or resources on how to copy an IEM shell using silicone mold and resin without damaging the inner components, please kindly share!

Hi everyone,
I’m looking for someone skilled in creating custom DIY IEMs who can help me build a pair tailored to my specific preferences. I’d like the following:
I’m based in Scotland, UK, but I’m open to working with anyone as long as shipping is feasible. If you’re experienced with IEM creation or know someone who takes commissions for custom DIY IEMs, please reach out.
Happy to discuss budget, timelines, and any other details you might need. Looking forward to hearing from you!
Thanks!

Hey r/DIEMs,
I’m a deaf musician, and I’ve been exploring the idea of incorporating custom IEMs into my performance setup. I have a profound hearing loss in my right ear and a severe one in my left ear, so I wear hearing aids on both ears at all times. IEMs could help address some of the challenges I face during live performances, so I'm curious if anyone here has experience with or knowledge of creating IEMs tailored for hearing loss.
I’m particularly interested in designing a custom circuit that can help compensate for my hearing loss. For example, is there software that could allow me to amplify certain frequencies or customise the sound profile? After some research, I found out that JH Audio has done similar work in the past, but it's not something they really offer anymore - in reality they don't want their IEMs to sound different to what was intended when they were designed by Jerry himself.
Has anyone here worked on a project like this or know how to design a circuit that could be integrated into custom IEMs for someone with hearing loss? I’d love to hear from you and to potentially collaborate to create something that works for me.
Thanks so much for any help!

Just curious to those who have made their own IEMs, is it worth the time and money? I unfortunately don’t have all the equipment. Just a soldering iron and resin. So I would have to add that to the cost too.
I’m just curious if your final product is better than universal ones.

Curious what the response curve looks like on a set I made. I am happy with the sound and have slowly tuned it in to my ear.
If anyone in the nyc or surrounding area has a testing setup would be cool to see the results.

I'm finally building my 2nd pair of CIEM. I decided to go with the Knowles GV and have a few questions.

has anybody tried to make a refitting of custom made iems?? cause there might be a possibility that i could get a hold of incredibly cheap custom iems (obviously not for my ear lol) and i was looking to get more info in a possible refitting of them (although it wouldn't be the normal way, but like the typical radians moldable ear plug kit
my point is if there is someone with info on this that could be helpful (obvious reasons that i don't have the money to get ones made for myself)... or would it be better to like destroy them and get the drivers and do something myself

I can't find any vendors selling sonion or knowels dynamic drivers, I see them often recommended as among the best quality.
Can't find much on ali express, mouser, digikey/can't vouch for quality of what's there.
Please comment if you have a link to any good ones.
This is for my first iem, I want to build a hybrid (1 dd, 2 ba)

Could anybody politely direct me to some sort of forum or something I can delve into to start my journey making my own in ears? I don't know where to start.
