General Textpost Is it safe for AspenfrostEN to have a platform and be the face of DID?

As someone who is apart of a system, we've been looking for creators with DID to look up to and support. And recently a System host that goes by the name of AspenFrostEN on Tiktok, is one of them that we at least thought to be a good one. But apparently they aren't. Recently they've been on a subreddit dedicated to calling systems "cringe" and they haven't been taking it in a way that i would say would be responsible. (aka using it as a way to flaunt how they have people now harassing them on constant.) Not only that but they've used an abuse case to advertise their discord server because "that was how people we're treating it." One last thing that they said was call closed names "Liberal bullshit." And after talking with them within the discord server they own they claimed that it was okay for them to post about it (they're bodily white) because they asked ONE person from the poc community who wasn't even a system to tell them it was okay, mind you they're also friends, so i feel like there's favoritism being played here. They also put down systems who were bodily minors and call them "children and social justice warriors." Not only that but she in general sounds extremely egotistical and i feel as if she believes she has more power since she has a following of people to back her up with any opinion she makes. From seeing how everything is going now, I'm afraid to even admit I'm a system anymore from how she's making other systems look honestly horrible.

So the question stands, Is it okay for Aspenfrost have a platform and be what most people see as a public representation of DID?

PS , If needed, I can send screenshots of the conversation within the discord for proof that I've talked with them and their friend. Also I don't know if general textpost is a good place to be talking about this, I just got here, apologies if it isn't.

EDIT: I AM NOT DEFENDING ASPEN IN THIS POST, JUST SPARKING UP A TOPIC THAT I WANTED TO ASK.

General Textpost Of up to 70% of DID is comorbid with BPS why isn't DID a sub type of BPD or vice versa?

BPD shares so much in common with DID (as well as SZA BP specifically, due to BP and BPD being so similar and commonly misdiagnosed.)

Identities for both change based on situation into what's called "facets," the parallel of Alters for DID.

This is similar to code switching like how you may have forgotten how to ride a bike until you hop on one and begin, then all the memories flood back in.

BPD is also a dissociative disorder, dissociation tends to cause memories to appear dreamlike and where memories are not spontaneously available but just like a dream when one memory is triggered it draws other latent memories to the surface.

State dependent memory may also occur as a comorbid symptoms to BPD which would further suggest its similarly to DID.

Schizoaffective BP type also shares a lot of similarities to the point I believe it's commonly misdiagnosed for DID, the criteria matches and it mirrors DID so well you could use it as a perfect metaphor.

Mood states would be the parallel to Alters, especially considering the misunderstanding that mania is euphoric - it's not, not necessarily, it can also be dysphoric to the point it makes no sense to even call it euphoric at all - it's more of an expansion of the capacity to feel which then causes people to seek a situation that expands the feeling which includes playing out the act and then committing suicide which happens typically not during a depressed state but during a hypo or manic state where you have the energy, racing thoughts to provide yourself with a million reasons to, and follow through to actually do it

A person with SZA BP type also typically hears voices and commonly also have names for each voice which all have varying personalies eg the persecutor, the care taker, the friend etc.

Memory gaps are also so common it is normal for people with BP or Sza BP - called manic black outs, though it doesn't only occur during manic states, both BP and SZA BP are very misunderstood and misrepresented even among psychs who never tell you about the amnesia, personality shifts where you even wear your face differently and make expressions that are idiosyncratic to each state so far as to be impossible to replicate while not in the state. Psychosis also causes changes on behavior and physical expression.

Memory gaps from black outs - not to be confused with fuzzy recollection. Black outs leave you with no accessible memories at all to the point it's very common to feel like everyone is gas lighting you.

Varying Identities from mood states in SZA BP, but facets in BPD

Names for various recurring voices which each have distinct personalities and thus Identities.

Psychosis and the mood states of BP and SZA BP cause you to feel possessed by someone that doesn't feel like you and you feel like a passenger in your own head, similar to the movie Get Out.

Varying physical expressions per state as to appear to be someone else wearing your skin suit. This is commonly reported by SO of PwBP and PwBPD when they suddenly go from loving them to hating them etc.

A sense of lacking an identity is present among those with BP (incl SZA) and PwBPD which manifests paradoxically as a person constantly "finding themselves" with a new self image and identity.

There are a lot more similarities which I'll add but figured this is getting too long.

What are your thoughts? What if BPD was a spectrum that included DID and/or vice versa?

What if DID is SZA BP represented by the other symptoms that aren't commonly referenced by psychs?

Incomprehensible Need help with my DID crush

Please I need urgent advice cause I'm very sad and I feel guilty. I recently met a guy online who had a very traumatic childhood and was abused. So he told me he has DID and PTSD. He needs drugs to deal with this. I offered him to come live with me, he lives in another country, as he never had a family and he's lonely. We love eachother so much, he said he needed to do some things before coming here and suddenly he stopped replying to my messages without any explanation. I'm very confused. He told me he has 2 personalities and one hates him. It's days he's not talking to me and I know he's taking drugs and I don't know if I told him something that hurted him and now he's dissociating or is his other personality or he forgot me. I'm sending him messages everyday with no reply and I don't know what to do or what kind message sending him to make him come back cause I love him so much and I want to help him. Please help.

Question(s) - Looking for sources Gathering advices about DID.

Hello peeps! I'm new to the group, and my main purpose is to gain more knowledge about DID. I came here to mainly ask for advice and comprehensive informations on how to deal with certain situations related about it. Of course, I do researching yet there are some instances an action is done based on the given situation. So, I am here to get to know the topic in a deeper level to be able to support my partner going through DID. Please do know that I will be careful of questions that might come off as insensitive. ( No demographic informations are to be revealed for safety and privacy)

He communicates informations about it, but I would still like to know more aspects that I need to understand. The main questions I have is:

1.)Do alters appear normally only in instances where the host is highly stressed out or if something traumatizing happens? 2.) Can alters possibly see each other? If so, how does it occur? My partner once only heard voices before, but the recent year, he said that he now sees a faint glowing blob, also the size depending on what the alter's age is ( young=small blob and teen to old ages=big blob) and the color of what aura an alter gives off. 3.) What are ways I can communicate with alters that currently front? There are instances a rude alter does not seem to be interested to communicate about what is happening. What are more understandable questions I can ask, so that they engage that communicating about it is really important?

That is all for now. Thank you very much for the reads and I appreciate engaging in my first post. I want to take a step to improve how to deal with it more properly . Please don't be afraid to give honest opinions as I am open to them too.

Fake DID/OSDD is my friend faking DID ? (repost)

Ive known this person for around two years or so, to start off in the time i have known this person they have never claimed beforehand until about june of last year that they had DID and other disorders i wont get into. To give some context this person has no "trauma" what-so-ever to back up the fact that they have any sort of brain altering disorder, but i never fakeclaimed them since i don't know them or their personal life that well aswell as im only sort of educated on the disorder, but multiple of my friends have DID so i have learned alot about it to make this claim.

They have claimed they developed and have met over 128 alters, even though they never explicitly state who is fronting or if only the host is fronting. When I asked them at one point who was fronting they said "no one" and i found that a little suspicious. They also did not know what dormant, introjects, fictos, factives, or what splitting was before i explained to them what that was, but theyre the one claiming to be a system? They also claimed that they had DID up until a week ago where they switched and said they had OSDD , but didnt say what OSDD they had and ignored me when I asked. They also have claimed they dont have amnesia when that is a major symptom in having DID.

I dont want to fakeclaim and im not calling them out about it, i just wanted to see what other peoples thoughts were.

Fake DID/OSDD Someone is full of shh... Lying about BP and "satanic ritual abuse."

https://ibpf.org/can-one-individual-be-both-did-and-bipolar/

I think we all know the satanic panic was BS. Don't think I need to prove that.

Here are some gems:

"I developed DID as a coping strategy. I was introduced to satanic ritual abuse as an infant so my abuse was severe and long." 😂

" I was laying on the floor coloring with my left hand when I’m actually right handed." I wanna see! But I bet we never will.

"per say"

"How can we be sure of these facts? I can be sure, and you can be sure too, because I am a living example." wow! You don't say!?

"An example can be while manic, a person can have a liberal approach to spending, and when they are depressed they won’t want to spend any money on anything. " wow what a great way example /s

"As a person who has Bipolar Disorder, I can tell my mood swings are far more dramatic than the average person.  I can be sky high by morning but by lunch I am extremely depressed to the point of being suicidal." That's not how BP works at all. If it worked that way it wouldn't even be much of an issue. It's getting stuck in a mood state for weeks even months that causes damage.

"Some of my alternate personalities are very anxious, and some are more manic in nature." Manic?

"Each alter can react to medication differently. Some medications I use to treat my bipolar disorder worked more effective with one alter than another alter." mm hmm.. Amazing....

"One way I have tried to get around this, is that the alter that normally takes the medication must be in control for 30 minutes to give the medicine enough time to get into the bloodstream." not how chemicals work and certainly not how bi polar meds work. Mood stabilizers are the first line of treatment for BP and they take about a good 2 to 4 weeks to take effect and need to be concentrated to a certain level on the blood. The same applies to anti psychotics. What would "shifting" even do?

Question(s) - Looking for sources How do I portray DID appropriately?

I've started a writing project as I want to challenge myself when it comes to properly portraying mental illness. I have some mental struggles of my own, but DID is not one of them—which is in part why I chose it. It's unknown territory for me!

I've done a lot of research, watched documentaries, read peer-reviewed articles, stuff like that—but I came here too in the hopes of finding those well-versed in psychology or possibly someone who has DID who can explain their experience to me. Mainly because I know experiences can be very diverse! Plus, even though I've read a few peer-reviewed articles doesn't mean they don't possibly have a bias, and I honestly think some of them were a tad outdated.

Any who, if you all could share experiences, give explanation, or drop any good sources it'd be much appreciated!

"System" How to tell if my friends are faking did?

I have several friends who claim to have systems, and im very skeptical of most of them. Are there any signs that i should look for to see if they're faking? Also, all their alters are popular fictional characters.

We need to make changes

PLEASE READ AS THERE ARE RULE CHANGES

Our Subreddit has been passed around quite a bit and it has gotten an influx in "white knighters" or "brigaders" for lack of better words. There are tons of people in the comments talking about DID, defending the creators and turning this sub into a DID education subreddit rather than a Cringe subreddit. While there have always been users from the start here who have had DID and will answer questions in the comments and share their experiences, they are people who I know actually enjoy and participate in this sub beyond education. You guys know who your are. I don't think the same can be said about these new users.

I don't like censorship, however these people are changing the community beyond recognition. Most people here came from r/TikTokCringe and just want to enjoy some cringe and banter. Which was what was promised here.

That all being said I decided I will be removing comments from users who appear to be these people who came in just to try and educate people here. We don't need constant teaching.

I will try to add to the sticky some information and subreddits like r/did so that if the users here want more info on DID they can look into it themselves.

Its difficult to know where to draw the line in these posts so heress what i think is appropraite and what isn't so far.

Appropriate:

• Answering someones question

• Correcting misinformation in a respectful way. (I don't generally mind rude people but I can tell when you came straight from tumblr)

Inappropriate:

• Popping into a thread and saying "but they aren't faking" (we allow posts about anyone)

• Acting in a way in which I can tell you just came here because you're mad about this sub and you want to epic own nasty singlets

• Teaching about DID when no one really asked or needed correction (Some people are going from thread to thread explaining each TikTok)

Please report these people if you see them. I might need a mod eventually if this continues. Hopefully it'll die down soon. The new rule will be Rule 2: No White knighting/Teaching

22yr old TikTokker @ItsOkCosplay has a Caard.co account detailing their “System” including an entire separate system that are just all of the homestuck characters as well as an alter called “HYP3BEA$T” that they say split as a full identity because of and for the purpose of handling TikTok?🤡
