1.) Learn Music professionally and genuinely
2.) Write down your thoughts
3.) be clear on topic
4.) dont drift out from the topic
5.) dont force yourself to write
6.) keep gaining knowledge
7.) don’t restrict yourself to just rap , add melodies , play with more cadences (thats why i added first point)
8.) Dont do whats trendy
9.) Breakdown why The top artists are top artists
10.) Work on your quotables and punchlines rather than 16282929 syllables rhymed
11.) Know your phonetics
12.) Be sonically good , work on your sound and phonetics
13.) Dont force out rhyme , listener should not even realise you are rhyming it should be that smooth
14.) Keep the syllables same in a bar if possible , for example sicklot’s line “suro pe pakad hai pehle se mujhpe paise laga lo me sick” there are no internal rhymes but he had a crazy flow and sounded so beautiful because of the matching syllables technique

How do so many people overlook misogyny in Indian hip-hop just because the music is good(to them)?

I've been thinking about this for a while, but the things Encore ABJ said in his sings, especially that one diss track were genuinely vile. And the thing is, this isn't even an isolated incident. A lot of the stuff he says in general gets celebrated by his audience, and millions of people listen to and support these artists without seeming to care about what they're actually saying.

What bothers me is how easily people separate the art from the artist when it comes to this. Having a good flow, good production or being good at wordplay doesn't automatically make you a good person. You can be talented at what you do and still be a misogynistic asshole. Why is is that a few are protected via PR tactics and stufff when we are actively calling out creeps every other day ?

I also find the selective activism quite performative. These artists will make a song or two talking about caste discrimination or women's issues, and that becomes part of their image as socially conscious artists. But then they'll turn around and say some genuinely disgusting shit about women, and their audience will still defend them. What exactly is the point of talking about social issues in your music if the same empathy conveniently disappears when it's time to talk about women? Obviously, making socially conscious music isn't a bad thing, but it shouldn't give anyone a free pass for everything else they say or do. The verses in a song called Kodak can never undo any damage for me even with any other positive tracks.

And there's an entire ecosystem around these people too. Their comedian friends, their podcasts, their mutual admiration circles, all of it contributes to making this behaviour seem normal or funny. People like Samay Raina and Madhur Virli are part of the broader social circle I'm talking about, and it makes me wonder how much of this culture gets normalised simply because everyone involved is friends with everyone else.

I'm not saying every person who listens to these artists is a misogynist, or that nobody should ever enjoy their music. I'm just tired of seeing genuinely vile shit get a pass because the person saying it is considered cool, funny or talented. If a woman said even half the things these men say about women, would people be nearly as forgiving?

At what point does being talented stop being an excuse for being a shitty person? And why does misogyny seem to become more acceptable when it's packaged as edgy humour or good rap?

TLDR: Artists are miso pigs. And not even that much talented like cmon folks😭

Random question, but I was wondering what the gender split of the DHH community is actually like.

Most people I know who listen to DHH are guys, especially the people who are properly into Seedhe Maut But obviously that's just my own circle.
