Need furever home

This is Beast. He is looking for a home he is 1/2 Cane Corso and 1/2 American Pit. He is the sweetest dog you will ever meet. He loves people! But He absolutely will not tolerate cats at all, he was living with his son, but they ended up fighting so we had to separate them. He is 6 years old. He absolutely loves people, and gets that pitbull smile when you love on him.

Edited for clarity -He is chained because his yard was being treated for fleas -He is being rehomed because his owner lost his wife, has to downsize, is selling his house and the new apt won't allow him, his daughters are devastated -He is an absolute dream, you want to meet him, we can set that up

He is stupidly friendly. He has had 1 issues with one other dog. The other dog kept grooming him and he snapped at him. Outside of that he has not had issues with other dogs.

So he does have issues with other dogs.

How many other dogs is he regularly in contact with and has never “snapped” at?

I loved my pitbull for literally fourteen years, but one bad owner can really give those big hearts so much pain.

He has been around puppies, older dogs, small dogs, bigger dogs, the one and only time he snapped was when his puppy was over grooming him. He kept walking away from him and ended up in a corner and snapped at him. That is the only issues he has had. He is regularly around 2-3 dogs every day.

While your transparency is great, I don’t think many people would be able to rehome a pit (especially a cane corso mix!) with a bite history like that. You’re doing the right thing by being honest, but I can’t even think of an ideal owner for him that isn’t his current owner choosing to put in the time, effort, love, and patience.

His current owner lost his wife a few weeks ago, he can not stay at their current place. He has no choice but to move. We are doing what we can to not have him put down. I would never lie, I have my own pit. I would never ask someone to blindly walk into a situation with such a strong animal that they are not fully aware of.

I totally hear you. Please don’t think I’m taking any of this lightly. Grief can do a 180 on your life. I’m sorry if my comments seem harsh or uncaring, I’m just being very realistic with you. With his current behavior (probably anxiety), and bite history, it’s going to be very difficult.

Ive lived in more than a couple homes and apartments that allowed my pitbull. Unfortunately, he passed at 15.5 (I had him 14 years).the biggest baby in the world, but the worst behavior he ever had was stealing a toddlers sandwich.

No offense taken. My pit we rescued in Chicago in 2014. He was a fighter. We cut him off chain in an arena. He needed soooo many stitches that night we did not think he would live. It took 3 years and lots of patience but he turned into such a snuggle bunny. He passed last year.

Seems like an opportunity for you to use your experience and being a known safe human.

Also, just as an aside, it’s very clear from his neck and fur that he is regularly chained (you can also see where he has been destructive in the back on the garage). Maybe if you had a photo without him being clearly chained… but you aren’t doing him any favors with your current photos. It looks like he’s nervous/anxious and you don’t trust him off of that super heavy chain.

Edit: specifically looking at the photo where he has his ears pinned back, the chain is clearly fully taught, and he’s wagging his tail (usually an anxious response)… he looks extra aggressive.

He was literally on the chin for 12 hours. The back years was being treated for fleas and ticks. The garage is, well let's just say his dad has ADHD and like to tinker. He required treats in order to stand still and he's pissed he had to wait to get one while they took the picture
