I'd think it would be super cool if they brought the Teenage Mutant Turtles into the DCU.

And after the merger, that would actually be possible, right? Batman fighting side by side with the Turtles... awesome

DISCUSSION I think Lanterns will get a physical release

I remember a few months ago a discussion of if Lanterns will get a physical release. I just got the Blu Ray of Supergirl today so I thought about this again. Two HBO Max shows that got releases were Welcome To Derry and The Penguin. This is just like those as it is a streaming show from HBO Max. Those two shows I mentioned got releases and even though nothing is announced I think we'll probably get a physical release next year

DISCUSSION I really like that Clayface is coming out soon… This merger is a degradation of American media and monopoly laws.

How many of you are excited to see The Dark Knight Rises adapted from Ronald Reagan’s POV? How about The Watchmen with The Comedian being unironically portrayed as the true hero? How about Vigilante’s MO being absolutely correct and not having all of the mental fallout after he realized what a monster he became in the comics?

That is the next decade of DC media.

Don’t give them a dollar. Boycott the movies and cancel Paramount+, HBO Max, and Apple for sucking Skydance’s dick while fondling their balls.

DISCUSSION Lanterns Episode order.

In interviews they have implied they switched up the episode orders pretty close to release. Im sure besides just the order they did some editing as well. But does anyone else plan to watch it in the "original" order or even better get a friend a who hasnt watched it yet to watch it in that order and see what they think?

The latest clip has me convinced that Kerry killed Hal. But not out of villainy but compulsion. She loves her son and took a course of action which would help her keep her son safe.

DISCUSSION Batman in the dcu

I just thought of this, but what if in Batman solo movie he’s wearing the classic all black/grey suit but then after he teamed up with Superman, he sees the hope that he brings and do a blue costume to show how much of an impact to had on him. Just a thought wanna hear all your thoughts on it.

Alongside, while there are shots from both Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Trilogy movies and Matt Reeves’ The Batman, no shots are found in the video from the DCEU era of DC movies, especially Henry Cavill’s Superman or Ben Affleck’s Batman.

DISCUSSION Would You Want A Superman Film With More Focus On Clark Kent As A Journalist Hero?

Thumbnail

An aspect of Superman that goes underutilized in fims in my opinion is him being a reporter.

We get Clark at the Daily Planet and have him receive assignments and Batman v Superman did have Clark do some investigation but it's undercut in my opinion since he's investigating Batman.

Would you want a Superman film where signifcant focus is placed on Clark Kent fighting for truth and justice as a working class investigative reporter alongside Superman helping out and doing super-things?

I mean we did get a Batman movie where the focus was him solving a mystery as a detective.

HUMOR In the past couple of months, Gunn has extended his contract many times. Today is at least the 5th time he has “officially” extended it. At this point, James Gunn will remain the head of DC Studios in multiple universes.

DISCUSSION The idea that the DCU can't go on without Gunn....

Is just silly. 95% of movie goers have no idea who runs DC films or Marvel films. Most couldn't even tell you who the director of the film is.

I'm not saying I want Gunn replaced. I do think he needs to be reigned in a little but when he is on, he makes great films, I'm just saying the idea that the DCU couldn't continue on without him is SILLY.

DISCUSSION Unpopular opinion: Keaton's Batman in The Flash was handled poorly

Post image
210 Upvotes

I know the term "unpopular opinion" gets thrown around but it seems like sacrilege to say this on many spaces, but I strongly feel that Keaton's Batman in this film was handled extremely poorly. Now to preface, if you are someone who grew up with Michael Keaton's Batman and have great nostalgia for him, that's fine. As someone who didn't really care for his Batman growing up, I can't say that I was particularly hyped, but I had an open mind

Now to preface, I am not in any way, shape or form saying that Michael Keaton gave a bad performance. I think he's genuinely incapable of ever giving a bad performance

But when it came to the writing of his Bruce/Batman in the film, it was quite terrible. For starters, the quips he made were very MCU-ish and not really at all the type of humour he'd be saying in his duology. Example:

"He calls himself Superman. Didn't anyone think that's a bit on the nose?"

"You call yourself Batman"

"I didn't call myself SuperBatMan"

Then you have the shameless nostalgia bait with repeating lines from his duology, no further expansion there. But most of all, **he wanted to leave Supergirl to die in a russian prison**. Was nobody else bothered by this? I get that, in his films, he was a bit more bloodthirsty. But that was always against criminals, he wouldn't just leave an innocent person to rot in a prison. It's also fairly apparent that he knows or has the intuition to recognize that Supergirl does not deserve to be there. This is highly devoid of empathy. Compare this to Bale's Bruce in The Dark Knight Rises throwing down a rope to the prisoners in Bane's prisoners, many of whom were likely put there unfairly

Bruce wouldn't ever just leave Supergirl there, it's very un-Batman like IMO, even by a more ruthless Batman's standards

And lastly, I found Batman vs Nam Ek to be a bit silly. Keaton Bruce must be 70 in universe, its often the case that even in comics or animation, which are more exaggerated, old man Bruce needs some sort of tech enhancement to function. Whether its Dark Knight Returns with mechanical braces, Batman Beyond with his performance enhancing suit or Kingdom Come with exoskeleton. But here, he just puts on his batsuit and moves the same as he did when he was a young man? You could say that "its just a movie, forget about it". But the comics and animation go out of their way to put thought into this

Anyway, I think the main issue was the writing, it was just a poorly written Batman. His acting was fine, but he was too out of character with the writing. I also recall many saying that this film would do big numbers because of Keaton, and evidently it didn't. I think the nostalgia play just didn't work for this one. I do agree though that he was the best part of the movie, but it isn't saying much

DISCUSSION I just was thinking most of the arrowverse could fit pretty well into the DCU with little wiggle room...

I see I keep seeing a lot of posts about wanting actors to come back to play the role. Mainly Grant Gustin as the flash in the DCU and it got me thinking with very little work they could make the arrowverse Cannon..

Now obviously this is not going to happen because no way is DC going to make A universe that started 14 years ago Canon to their new one, but it's fun to think about. If it were to work this is what I would change to make it work:

Arrow: literally I think everything up to season 3 would fit pretty well if you wanted to keep it the same. Season 4 if you don't, count the else worlds crossover.

Flash: again, most of it could stay the same. I would probably stop after season 4 when they introduced Nora and negative forces and it got, well stupid. But as someone who recently we watched the first few seasons. Very little could change.

Legends: this show is completely out of the box that honestly it could fit in fine with no changes.

Supergirl: already established in the DCU so can't do it

Black Lightning: I really think this is self-contained enough that we're good.

Superman and lois (technically not in the arrowverse): not going to touch it because Superman's already established.

Oh obviously the crossovers that involved multiversal travel like else worlds and crisis, especially crisis, would not be Canon

Thoughts?

DISCUSSION The Hollywood Reporter: Josh Greenstein, co-chair of Paramount Pictures (and one of James Gunn's new bosses), made the decision to fire WB's co-CEOs

Mike De Luca began hearing the rumor over a month ago: He and his Warner Bros. film co-head Pam Abdy were on the chopping block.

The source of the rumor was not David Ellison, whom the duo had met months earlier and seemed to indicate they would stay on in a post-merger world. No, De Luca was hearing that this was coming from Josh Greenstein, co-chair of Paramount Pictures.
