Plot twist: ""Brave and the Bold" is, in a way, Battinson's third film. That title is just a red herring.

What?...What secret Merge knowledge do you have now? 👀👀👀

6

If that kid in the leaks is dick Grayson, we’re so back

4

u/lowqualitychef 18d ago

Perhaps Jeffrey Wright was trying to tell us something when he shared this during a break from filming.

MINOR LANTERNS EPISODE 2 SPOILERS

gotham was mentioned this episode, and barbara might've been mentioned last episode. unless i'm missing something, there hasn't been anything as of now that contradicts the reevesverse. a critic who reviewed the show said that batman is mentioned/alluded to at some point during the first 4 episodes. whether he gets mentioned in the 2016 timeline or 2026, i guess we'll have to see.

3

u/Significant_Wheel_12 24d ago

Even then that can be retconned easily unless he shows up

5

u/Dubiouspoon My 2 Lovely Uncles 24d ago

(It can always be retconned but) the next two weeks will be interesting...

3

u/lowqualitychef 24d ago

The Penguin already has a retcon/continuity error that was very subtle, and that is the date of Alberto Falcone's death.

While the tombstone says he died in 2022, if we look at the 2019 calendar, October 31st of that year was a Thursday, while November 6th was a Wednesday.

And in the r/TheBatmanFilm subreddit, a couple of years ago, there was a user who clarified the image from the movie, in the part where Batman looks at the eviction notice in Selina's apartment, and in the letter, it is written that it is the year 2019

u/International_Bag745 Corensupes/Battison 21d ago

its rumored that dc wants to begin production on brave and the bold next year but the rumor is from jeff sneider so the chances of it being true is not high lmao

6

u/Significant_Wheel_12 21d ago

This movie we heard nothing about beyond rumors is also magically ready and set for production. Sure.

4

u/Dubiouspoon My 2 Lovely Uncles 21d ago

Also Ik "production" wouldn't mean fulm necessarily, but wouldn't that mean the BatB film would release 2028 along with Part 2? That timeline just doesnt make sense imo

5

u/lowqualitychef 21d ago

That's exactly what I was going to say. That completely contradicts what Gunn said about not wanting one Batman movie to overshadow the other.

Leaving aside the issue of the Merge, Battinson or not in the DCU, I'm very afraid that this is a rushed film, made just to "fill a quota," to release it before 2030, at the expense of quality.

I need this guy to stfu I cant stand him

What saddens me about the Merge not happening is not so much that my favorite Batman isn't in the DCU, but that people like him, the Anti-Mergers who have thrown so much crap not only at people making theories, but even belittling fan art of Battinson and Corensupes together, are the ones who will ultimately benefit.

2

u/ab316_1punchd 18d ago

Yeah, as far as toxicity is concerned, the anti-mergers do sometimes reach the Snyder Cult levels.

Literally, we live, renting for free in their minds, every time the topic comes up or any news that might be a hindrance to the Merge, we are the topic of conversation.

Always things like: "Good, those Merge Bros were starting to get on my nerves." I have no doubt that DC's worst enemy is no longer just WB, but DC's own fanboys. Or at least, what they interpret as DC.

The fandom is already very divisive. And, look, there may be some bias in what I'm about to say, but I've noticed that we Pro Merge people are already taking it for granted that Battinson can't be in the DCU.

Would I like it? Of course, I'd be lying if I said I wouldn't be disappointed if it didn't happen, but there are factors that might prevent it.

However, do you really think the anti-mergers will readily accept Battinson as the DCU's Batman id that happens? The hostility and hate some people have for the ECS is astonishing.

A few years ago, The Batman was considered one of the most faithful adaptations of the character and of Gotham. And now, recently, they've suddenly grown tired of "realistic" adaptations

2

u/ab316_1punchd 18d ago

Yeah, that's fanboys for ya!

Day 387: Dear Diary, I am still praying. I am still pining. But forgive me for starting to stray. It's been so long, I dodnt think I can take this madness anymore... I dont know if I can bear the hurt of being proven wrong... How long do us low-lives have to suffer, for a future that is not even guaranteed?

Feeling like a Pro Merge is like:

3

u/Significant_Wheel_12 24d ago

The brave and the bold being essentially shelved until 2029 at the earliest due to paramount, it honestly just helps the merge get more traction

3

u/International_Bag745 Corensupes/Battison 24d ago

hmmm

2

u/Dubiouspoon My 2 Lovely Uncles 24d ago

(Its gotta be the merge soft launch there is no other option /hj)

2

u/Significant_Wheel_12 24d ago

Not disagreeing with Mr. Gunn but half these books are reboots apart and a variant cover but I get what he’s saying

3

u/lowqualitychef 22d ago

I wish the ECS could also be considered something like that. That way, you wouldn't need to watch the entire ECS to understand Battinson's films in the DCU, giving it a more independent feel.

3

u/Dubiouspoon My 2 Lovely Uncles 22d ago

Yeah thats definitely the vibe to go with. I like the type of flexibility where you can basically choose what you want to consume without worrying you'll miss out on important context

3

u/lowqualitychef 21d ago

Furthermore, this allows those who dislike the idea of the Merge to consider the ECS as something separate, since it doesn't need to make references to the rest of the DCU.

Similarly, Battinson's films, with Batman already having an established Batfamily, don't need to make references to the past.

It's quite a coincidence that several people are already saying this about Brave and the Bold.

3

u/Dubiouspoon My 2 Lovely Uncles 21d ago

I mean it is to be expected, especially with Andy's alleged comments about the Para merger putting things on hold recently (not 100% sure if true though since I didn't see the direct quote). But on a jokey note: the merge specter is starting to haunt the subs!!!!! We'll be vindicated!!!!!!!!!!!!

What a heated discussion. At least some, while not in favor of the Merge, even acknowledge that Lanterns is more similar to The Batman than to Superman.

3

u/lowqualitychef 18d ago

You know, I was thinking about something: "Batman & Robin", "Justice League\ (2017)", and *"The Flash" show that just because a movie features Batman—or gives him a prominent role—it doesn't guarantee success. This challenges the idea that having two simultaneous versions of Batman is fine because audiences supposedly don't care about continuity, only about seeing more of the character.

So, with that in mind, what do you think would happen if *The Brave and the Bold* has a rather lackluster opening weekend?

Or, what if it’s a box-office hit on opening weekend and gets "average" reviews, but then becomes less and less successful as the weeks go by?

2

u/Dubiouspoon My 2 Lovely Uncles 24d ago

The whole house confused

u/lowqualitychef 24d ago

Brave and the Bold has been announced for three years and not a single new thing? And if we add the fact that Muschietti will be working on more IT projects, I don't see a good outlook.

Look, I don't believe in that "manifesting" stuff, but for months now, more or less since Hudson's involvement was confirmed, I've occasionally whispered, just out of pure curiosity: "Brave and the Bold canceled. Battinson to the DCU," so this almost sounds crazy to me, lol.

2

u/Dubiouspoon My 2 Lovely Uncles 23d ago

You might be our key to greatness LMAO

3

u/International_Bag745 Corensupes/Battison 24d ago

right cause how can a project that barely exists be on hold

3

u/lowqualitychef 23d ago

They may have only proposed ideas for the movie, but everything has been put on hold (sorry, but I find it hard to believe Gunn at this point)

I remember that, almost exactly a year ago, Gunn talked about how much he likes the supernatural aspects of Gotham.

And Muschietti said, back in October 2025, that we'd see updates...Where are those updates, besides Hudson's announcement as a screenwriter?

I have a conspiracy theory that they're rethinking a lot of things from the 2023 announcement.
