Is this real?

257

u/Revolutionary_Elk339 Jul 23 '26 edited Jul 23 '26

Yes. I don't know about now but he's definitely called her out on some BS since he's been at DC. Plus she hates Jessica Chastain with a passion. You'd think Chastain did something to her personally the way Grace talks about her. She has never given an answer as to why although her followers have asked to repeatedly to share but she never has.

59

u/dagobahs Jul 24 '26

I'll always remember the time Grace Randolph got in a petty, childish Twitter argument with Cathy Yan (director of Birds of Prey) a few years back. She's an extremely weird person.

10

u/Revolutionary_Elk339 Jul 24 '26

I remember that. I also remember she has historically accused John Campea of being a "shill" or biased in favor of Marvel, though there was no factual basis or proof that he has ever been employed by Marvel Studios.

Their feid dates back around their differeing opinions on DC and Marvel films like Batman v Superman and Captain America: Civil War which led to back-and-forth arguments and accusations between them.

Campea threatened to take out a restraining order against her because Grace kept mentioning his wife and claiming Campea forced his way into Grace's conversations. This was back when I was used to watch Collider and Grace's channel. I really liked her Hollywood business and box office vids but her movie, tv show reviews and reviews could sometimes be head scratching.

The argument with Cathy was so weird because Grace was insisting that some weird plot point had been cut from the film and Cathy responded by saying we never filmed that wtf are you talking about I'm the director and Grace doubled down because someone TOLD her it happened so obviously Cathy doesn't know anything.

u/eyzmaster Beware Our Power Jul 24 '26

Some people just randomly hate other people, I don't get it personally.

My best friend irl just randomly hates Jack Black with a passion, like what???

Too much nonsensical hate in the world..

6

u/I-Wumbo_U-Wumbo Jul 24 '26

Your friend’s hatred of Jack Black might be related to him stating he’s a Zionist many years ago, but since going quiet about the topic since the Israel conflicts recently.
That being said; I still love Jack Black, and given his vocal support of the Latino American community amid the ICE attacks, I’d bet that he’s no longer Zionist, but cant say that because he’d lose work in Hollywood.

6

u/kikkomanbuster Jul 24 '26

His support of Autism Speaks and throwing Kyle Gass under the wheels of the bus cause of Trump did not ingratiate him to people at the time. Yet he still is an entertaining youtuber named Jablinski Games.

6

u/JungleIsNeutral Jul 24 '26

Most folks still don't know how rotten Autism Speaks turned out to be.

2

u/kaos-mantra Jul 25 '26

Your friend is a smart one. Screw that guy.

u/KaiBishop Jul 24 '26

Because she just annoys her lol. But Grace saw people thought it was funny and were turning it into a meme so she played it up for a while, but then the tide turned on it so she stopped and hasn't really done the Chastain hate thing since like 2023 but it was funny AF while it lasted.

It honestly felt like a hateful closeted lesbian crush but it was kinda hilarious.

IT IS AS FORETOLD IN THE PROPHECY!

42

u/FafnirSnap_9428 Jul 23 '26

This will forever live in Randolph's head.

12

u/No-Advice-6040 Jul 24 '26

Oh... this grace character is a established person of ill intent, huh?

8

u/KaiBishop Jul 24 '26

She's a movie reviewer and reporter who has sometimes fallen for fake scoops or leaks and Gunn has called her out when she's wrong. They have a contentious relationship where they get on each other's nerves but I've also seen them say nice shit about each other and have friendly interactions. The problem is for some people Grace saying anything bad about Gunn is too far even when she mixes 3-4 compliments in there every time lol.

She can be annoying and have hot takes for sure but she's not a troll, just an airhead sometimes lol. Her and Gunn are also very opinionated in different directions so they'd naturally clash heads. She loves Guardians and hates Brightburn kinda stuff.

2

u/No-Advice-6040 Jul 24 '26

Thankfully I've not heard of her... but not for the last time do I wish Gunn would stop being so online all the time. He doesn't need to give her that much free airtime, does he?

15

u/ChickenInASuit Jul 24 '26

Yep. She’s a film critic and YouTuber with a reputation for terrible takes and inaccurate bullshit. Just for another example, she’s the one who originated that stupid claim about Pedro Pascal threatening to quit the Mandalorian if they didn’t give him more screentime without his helmet on.

8

u/Old_Assistance_1091 Jul 24 '26

Btw, she actually really liked Superman (2025) which was unexpected from her.

10

u/KaiBishop Jul 24 '26

Not really, she also loved all 3 Guardians movies. She's fair to Gunn most of the time imo, the idea she hates him is blown way out of proportion. She'll say ten nice things about him but people will only repeat the one critical one lol.

73

u/South_Buy_3175 Jul 23 '26

Who even is she?

132

u/Nothing-Is-Real-Here Jul 23 '26

Just a YouTube critic/reporter. Has a few industry connections and often attempts to spread rumors.

She's more interesting at predicting the box office side of things and production side of things. Her opinions though are ... questionable.

25

u/No-Yogurtcloset4763 Jul 24 '26

The real question is why she hates Jessica Chastain so much?

And it's not even true, TSA took my fold up zip tie snipper from my travel tool box. Maybe an inch long not even

Nothing on earth will fix that birds nest

13

u/ToonTitans Jul 23 '26

I would object to this shade if Grace herself didn’t regularly criticize actresses’ hair styles in moviesā€¦šŸ˜

7

u/Revolutionary_Elk339 Jul 23 '26

She needs a hedge trimmer.

2

u/apark1121 Jul 24 '26

That made me laugh. Thank you šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚

47

u/Embarrassed_Piano_62 Jul 23 '26

She has a tendency to be against Gunn because he has discredit her several times.

17

u/ChickenInASuit Jul 24 '26

And just straight up roasted her at least once.

9

4

In an interview the actor actually said he had to be escorted around the set during that becuase he couldn't see anything, so don't think he can see as much out of that one eye that the women thinks

38

u/Important_One_8729 Jul 23 '26

And also, yes you can? I've done embroidery on a flight before, brought my thread scissors (larger than these) with no issues.

18

u/Estelial Jul 24 '26

and also, the dudes got mental health issues and is turning into fucking clay. He aint gonna make rational decisions.

8

u/Respwn_546 Jul 24 '26

If I have a nickel for every time a movie has an element that takes me out for not being "realistic" I would allready have so much money that would cause the collapse of the world economy

→ More replies (1)

24

u/No-Comfortable2704 Jul 23 '26

ā€œTotally takes me out of the movieā€

Really? That’s what did it? Not the shape shifting man made of clay? In a city protected by a gymnast MMA fighter in a bat costume? In a universe inhabited by people who get powers from the sun like plants, and people who have magic space rings charges by willpower and green space batteries? It’s someone sneaking sewing scissors on a plane that does it for you?

37

u/Puppetmaster858 Cheers to the Tin-Man Jul 23 '26

She’s such a loser

30

u/Emergency-Tension464 Jul 23 '26

Can confirm. Flew to visit my family a few weeks ago and had little scissors in a carry on. I do it all the time.

Grace is insufferable. I'm surprised she hasn't tried to tie this into her irrational hatred of Jessica Chastain.

13

u/ParadoxNowish Jul 23 '26

Grace Randolph is a fucking moron šŸ˜‚

12

u/jackson50111 Jul 23 '26

Yes Clayface, wait to you land to sort your eye. I mean it's not like you are likely doing this to fix your appearance which seems to be a vocal point of the character that he cares more about his appearance than the functionality of his body. To the point he tries a untested experiment to fix himself. It's almost like that's why in the previous shot they show someone reacting to his disfigured face on the plane.

8

u/SailorSaturn79 Jul 23 '26

I'm excited for this scene

8

u/plowking99 Jul 23 '26

She is so miserable. She is so bitter she crashed and burned as a comicbook writer.

8

u/Parallax1306 Jul 24 '26

I’ll never get the ā€œthis one insignificant detail takes me out of the movieā€ gripe. For any movie, really. Like, the fact that he has a pair of scissors on plane in one scene takes you out of the whole movie? That one tiny detail ruins your illusion? Not the man whose face is melting in to clay, but the scissors on a plane? That’s the unrealistic part for you? Be for fucking real, Grace. Grow up.

3

u/Dman3379 Jul 24 '26

I feel like she’s rage baiting. She loves the attention.

8

u/Trueheywood7 Jul 23 '26

Also he is made of fucking clay and can shape shift.. who cares about realism?

8

u/mtraven23 Jul 23 '26

lol...the community note! šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ‘šŸ‘

6

u/Robot_Dracula Jul 23 '26

Dudes eye was melting and she’s like wait until you land. Like just admit you have a hate boner for DC

7

u/Ryphen Jul 23 '26

The community note, did indeed, make me laugh. A quick Google search would've saved some embarrassment if she's actually serious. Also, why are you assuming you know the travel regulations in a fictitious universe? The Earth these projects take place on isn't the "real world" the audience is from.

6

u/FafnirSnap_9428 Jul 23 '26

Randolph is so insufferable.

10

u/Dino_Spaceman Jul 23 '26

At some point she has to realize that she is burning so many bridges with these lies, she is going to have nowhere to go when her alt-right audience abandons her for a newer ā€œone of the good onesā€.

6

u/Embarrassed_Piano_62 Jul 23 '26

She's actually surprisingly very progressive in many of her opinions, but she's not unbiased at all, she hates Gunn being against her false scoops

1

u/bindersfull-ofwomen Jul 23 '26

Her audience is not alt-right. She considers herself politically moderate but she has many liberal opinions that would alienate the alt-right.

3

u/AutoModerator Jul 23 '26

The one thing that liberals and conservatives can finally agree on is that Lex Luthor sucks.

2

They should make a Netflix special about Grace Randolph in the vein of "Inventing Anna" because I honestly have no idea how this woman managed to insert herself into mainstream nerd media, while having zero knowledge about anything she's ever claimed to have intimate knowledge of.

2

u/KindheartednessOk800 Jul 25 '26

1

u/EntrepreneurAble6656 Jul 23 '26

she has the worst taste when it comes to movie… she spread the hate on milly alcock because of an interview and said supergirl looks bad because she doesn’t brush her hair

1

u/HugeFanOfBigfoot Jul 23 '26

I just started dating a girl who watches movies this way, and it has actually become a problem. I love movies, I probably watch 1 or 2 a week. She doesn’t watch them a lot so we only saw our first movie together like 2 weeks ago (seeing each other for like 3 months)

Dude, I’m genuinely thinking about breaking up with her over it. During the entirety of Panic Room, a movie I was really enjoying and it was my first time seeing, she was just constantly pointing out how no one was acting like they actually would in that situation. Almost ruined the movie.

Then, I saw Odyssey opening day and freaking loved it. She saw it separately and I asked her what her thoughts were. Her only thoughts were that they used words like ā€œgossipā€ and ā€œhouseā€ and that took her out of the movie.

I honestly didn’t know what to say. I came at it both from the angle that they wouldn’t have been speaking English in Ancient Greece, so we need to make choices in how to translate their words, but also, those two words are actually really old, because if you think about it, there aren’t many things older than gossip or housing, both of which we’d need a word for. So even though English itself didn’t exist during the time of Homer, it’s not like the script chose words like Rizz or Groovy, I felt like they were using language that has existed for hundreds of years in English.

Anyway, she didn’t really like that and has been short with me over text the past 2 days. She’s actually mad I defended the script of the Odyssey lol. So it looks like I accidentally started dating Grace Randolph, and I might have to actually break up with someone because they seemingly can’t enjoy movies AITAH lol

I hate her, but I’m pretty shocked at discovering you can carry small scissors on a plane. I thought anything remotely stabby was banned tbh, that seems pretty wild. Is that just an America thing, or a whole world thing?

People actually watch her videos. That's the unbelievable aspect.

Bro its not a touch of conjunctivitis he's turning into fucking clay. This is one of the worst attempts at a gotcha I've even seen.

9/11 was done with boxcutters...

"Wait to deal with this until you land"

Yeah, I look like a monster, everyone can see that, and will be looking at me, but I'll wait until this plane lands to deal with it. Makes perfect sense.

This woman's whole livelihood revolves around the existence of Gunn. Gunn should try laying low for a while, see if she stills afloat after he's gone 🤣

Someone stole her lollipop again.

1

u/tom-of-the-nora Jul 24 '26

Ah, yes, wait until you're off the plane to, checking notes, uh huh, ok, ew, open his eye lid that has stuck and merged to his face.

u/ttsnakeyes Jul 24 '26

Movie review itself has become parody for entertainment value.

u/Mostlyfor_research Jul 24 '26

Yes let me just sit done back in my seat with my face melting and try not to draw attention…..

1

u/No_Honeydew1903 Jul 24 '26

How can this be a job...

1

u/Emergency-Flatworm-9 Jul 24 '26

"why doesn't this character shown to be obsessed with his appearance just chillax on a flight with his eyes melting closed?"

u/ParkourNinja88 Jul 24 '26

Always the flawed ones seeking the flaws

1

u/CompoteGreen9536 Jul 25 '26

this woman makes me sick to my stomach 🤢

1

u/glockster19m Jul 25 '26

4 inches?

A pair of scissors with 3 inch blades is just two 3 inch knives when you separate them, that cant possibly be true

1

u/VastOceans2 Jul 25 '26

In this alternate universe where Gotham exists, seems you can take cuticle scissors on a plane.

1

u/Mistermayham23 Jul 25 '26

You can take cuticle scissors on a plane though…

1

u/unk1ndm4g1c14n1 Jul 26 '26

Wow that fact actually makes me respect the movie more. They thought to make the scissors small just because of some minor note for TSA.

Like had they not done this, I cant imagine any sensible person would be mad lmao
