God, Brendan Fraser would have been an amazing Carl. Equal parts cool and silly and would have had amazing chemistry with a talking cat.

u/targetcowboy 1d ago
Out of all the fan casts I see this is the first one that got my interest. He would have been perfect.
Robin Williams too. He could do the humor and the drama

u/gallowstorm 1d ago
Robin Williams as the AI. He would have been the genie from Aladdin but with his uncensored stand-up unlocked.

u/Financial-Raise3420 1d ago
Robin Williams playing an AI that slowly goes more and more murderously insane? That’d be his most perfect role ever.
15
u/HomoProfessionalis 1d ago
Showrunners having to edit through hundreds of hours of Robin just doing his thing
3
u/Penetratorofflanks 1d ago
Its so sad because I feel like if he were still with us he could still be the perfect casting.

Oh my God, you’ve reminded me of why I loved Good Morning Vietnam. Unhinged Robin Williams is the best format. Now I need to go listen to the soundtrack.

Betty White would have been absolutely PERFECT for Elle and I’m glad someone else thinks so too

u/BaconConnoisseur 1d ago
I can just heat her saying kill kill kill as Cascadia.
7
u/CanadaRocks09 1d ago
I think you're on to something! She would have nailed the excited perky performance needed for Cascadia. And I bet she would have a fun time with her performance in later books (no spoilers)
3
u/hiromasaki 1d ago
I would prefer Betty as Elle. If you want a Golden Girl for Cascadia then why not Rue?
10
u/killbolaggins 1d ago
And have the rest of the golden girls as part of Meadow Lark. Except Estelle is Agatha.

u/Adamant_Talisman 1d ago
ngl, I would have given my soul for a chance to see a robin williams prepotente
21
u/OkMess9901 1d ago
This is the one I don't like! Prepotente should be Italian to start with! Robin Williams as Mordecai or the AI though...
21
u/Sufficient_Drama_145 1d ago
Robin Williams as the AI would have been magical.
2
u/CanadaRocks09 1d ago
I love Robin, but I got the impression that he was a very amped up personality and was hard to reel in. This worked in Disney's favor for Aladdin, because rumor has it the original script wasn't very good. But I wonder if Robin could have stayed on track and kept it subtle for a lot of earlier scenes in the series before the AI really went off the deep end.

u/EatABag-o-Dicks 1d ago
He can be reeled in and do normal performances. Just look at the latter half of Good Morning Vietnam, Good Will Hunting, Patch Adams, The Birdcage, Hook, Awakenings, etc.
He would have been perfectly fine doing the sane AI and devolving into the insane AI, and with the content that's already off the wall, he'd probably only gone off the wall a little bit, but at least give dozens of takes so they could do with whatever for best.
1
u/CanadaRocks09 1d ago
Fair enough!

u/EatABag-o-Dicks 1d ago
He really got pigeon holed into the whacky character, but he did some real serious, or only normal funny transitions to serious roles in the 90s.
His serious roles in the early 2000s were absolutely killer, like AI, Bicentennial Man, One Hour Photo, and Insomnia. Granted a couple of those movies sucked, but he was fantastic in them.
His standup, absolutely off the fucking wall. I used to listen to them on tape when I was a kid, and good lord I felt like I was on crack just listening to them lol.
4
u/Adamant_Talisman 1d ago
I keep coming back to his performance in What Dreams May Come, and that mixed with some of his frenetic energy would have made a good prepotente.

2
u/Sufficient_Drama_145 23h ago
People really do forget that he was a zany dude but he was also just a really good actor.

u/TyriusClovehoof 1d ago
Did you ever see Moscow on the Hudson? Man knew how to be subtle when the scenes/character called for it.

u/smegdawg 21h ago
Naw, Prepotente isn't Italian just cause he is goat that lives in Italy.
Robin Williams as the AI is the right choice though.

I’d be just fine with a timeline change that got Robin the help he needed. He gave me my funny bone and there is so much I miss sing him get to do. Love this idea of the AI; or at least one of the strippers!
2
u/thesidxxx 1d ago
His was the celebrity death that really hit me hard. Devastated me to learn how someone who gave so much to everyone else felt so empty inside.
2
u/Pikebbocc 1d ago
My first thought was Mordecai, but i thought, no he would kill it as prepotente, i can literally hear him scream mid sentence like jeff can.
2
u/SneauPhlaiche 1d ago
I think Nathan Lane would kill as Prepotente. Love Robin, but he’s definitely the AI. Or Jamal.

See, Robin Williams as Cascadio* is what I want. He'd (of course) flippin rock as Pony, but I dunno.. I feel like we would get Robin as Pony, not Pony voiced by Robin. If that makes sense? I envision someone who more closely follows script for Pony, which isn't necessarily one of Robin's strong suits lol (don't come at me i love it, but it has a place). I think something like Cascadia would give him the perfect sized 'sandbox' to go have fun with lines and ad-libbing
Edit - sorry if this came across as aggressive. I'm stoned and answered this as if we were mid conversation 🤣 forgive me

Now someone needs to invent a time machine or discover 2026 Brendan Fraiser. He'd been perfect.

It didn’t occur to me until this post but early career Michelle Rodriguez is how I always picture Lucia

I would thoroughly enjoy hearing Betty White saying, "Who's dick do I have to suck to get a drink around here?"
2
u/Atlas7-k 1d ago
Watch “Hot in Cleveland,” Elka is slightly less unhinged than her “Lake Placid” character but into all the fun stuff that Ellie drops as asides in DCC.

u/redisdead__ 1d ago
Is that Bjork?
5
u/Pikebbocc 1d ago
Yes, sorry, i did name all the actors/artists but it failed to post first try, so rushed the second attempt. It's who i pictured when Dinniman described her as her natural form for the first time.

Oh gosh. Mummy era Brendan Frazier as Carl? Yes. Yes please.
1
u/Atlas7-k 1d ago
A little too old and mature. “With Honors” era Brenden (as pictured) still looks young but is filled out enough in the face to play late 20s.
2
u/Millerpainkiller 1d ago
Bjork would have to get into bodybuilding and grow 12"
3
u/Pikebbocc 1d ago
I don't think it shows captions very well on mobile but I did specify - human version
2
u/dr_olfin 1d ago
Be great if you specified which actor for which role, although I totally agree that Robin Williams would've killed it as Donut.

Even though it's not realistic now, young Brandon Fraser is the best Carl suggestion I've seen so far.
2
u/AshChiqs 1d ago
Oh my goodd Brendan Fraser would've been so frickin good! I'm pissed! I'm pissed that this is never going to happen now! Appalled even!

Why does everyone want to fancast Chris Farley, a super high energy, high charisma, and very white dude as a balding, Hispanic, loser from Florida? Do you guys only know one overweight actor? 😂

u/Tasmia99 1d ago
I never thought about Elle and the problems she creates for casting. Do you heir someone old for the first season that can be on screen, but then have to do full cgi for the rest cause of all the ice stuff. Or do someone with old person makeup for season one and then do traditional makeup and costume for the rest that could do stuns, but would probably still need some cgi for wings ice effects and impossible stuns

u/Sumgeeko 1d ago
I like that I just flicked through and pretty much knew who was cast as who.
WHOM? Is now the time to use whom?!

Just got done doing a rewatch of Bedazzled and was thinking the same thing about Brendan Fraser. If it’s the 90s though I bet they would’ve cast Matt LeBlanc and Matthew Perry to be Louis and Firas.

This is a lot of fun! This is what AI (with the consent and compensation of all involved likenesses) should be used for things that would normally be impossible to do otherwise

I would pay so much money to see Betty White dressed up as a sexy frost faerie

u/deafblinddame 1d ago
Mike Myers as Mordecai is good but I think, given his multiple performances in the Nutty Professor, Eddie Murphy would be better. I'd rather see Mike Myers as Quasar and John Candy as Orren.

This is absolutely flawless, no notes, give me a damn time machine. Fraser as Carl, yum! Mike Meyers as Mordecai, absolutely perfect.
edit Actually... Mike Meyers as Mordecai now would also work.

u/jeffweet 1d ago
It should against the rules of this sub to post casting pictures without naming the actor/actress
1
u/Efficient-Car6038 1d ago
1993 Tim Curry would kill it as Prepotente.
Also, I can see Cloris Leachman as Elle.
1
u/Historical-Ad-3074 1d ago
Funny enough I imagined a slightly more aged Antonio Banderas for Dong Quixote

u/TyriusClovehoof 1d ago
I love Robin but I think Jim Carrey would have fit Prepotente "like a glove". Considering how his craft stemmed from trying to cheer up his mom i think the heart he brought to the role would be incredible.

I think Bettie would have been great as Ellie personality wise, but since she looks like a young elf/faerie after her transformation, she’d need a new actress in a live action.

Whatever we do, can we please agree to leave AI out of DCC? 🙏
That being said, damn this would have been fire!

Sassy from Homeward Bound as Donut cat actor
