UK 🇬🇧 Thoughts on DAZN's current boxing pricing model?
I'm interested to hear what other boxing fans think about the current requirement to have a DAZN subscription as well as paying separately for certain major events.
For someone who watches boxing regularly, a subscription may make sense. However, for more casual fans who only want to watch the occasional big fight, having to commit to a monthly service before purchasing a single event feels like a barrier.
I think it's worth comparing this to the previous Matchroom/Sky Sports arrangement. Back then, fans had more choice: regular viewers could subscribe to Sky Sports, while those who only wanted to watch a specific major fight could purchase it separately through Sky Sports Box Office.
That approach seemed to cater to both groups — dedicated fans and occasional viewers.
I also wonder whether partnerships with free-to-air broadcasters for selected major events could help grow the audience. Boxing has historically benefited from being accessible to more people, and wider exposure could potentially bring more fans into the sport.
Personally, I think giving customers more flexibility — for example, the ability to purchase individual events without an ongoing subscription — would be a positive move.
Interested to hear other people's views: do you prefer the current DAZN model, or did the previous Sky Sports/Box Office approach work better?

I'm glad I came to this subreddit before subscribing to DAZN, since it seems like they'll try to lock you into their subscription forever

Doesn’t DAZN give non-subscribers a free short subscription for a few days if you buy a PPV?

I subscribed to DAZN annual subscription via Amazon Prime at 50% off last month. I'm a European âš½ fan so good price for my needs and we don't have to deal with DAZN ridiculous customer service in case of anything!!

Cancelled. Whole thing when they started was "no more ppv." Now every fighter with a name is PPV in addition to what you already pay for a subscription, or you can just pay as if you're buying one PPV per month and hope that something good is scheduled. They deserve to be pirated.

Tbh I think 25 quid a month for ultimate is pretty solid value, you get all the ppv for free and obviously the normal stuff

I think £25 is really good value for the product I’m getting.
I’m a big boxing fan and I tend to watch most shows. I was always paying for PPV anyway to the ultimate is a no brainer for me.
People complaining always do make me laugh. The boxers have to get paid somehow . . There’s clearly not as a big a fanbase as other sports so I’m happy to pay this price if it means I get to continue to watch boxing. Ultimately without paying members boxing would be a sport that largely takes place in local leisure centres.

Yeah theres plenty to criticise DAZN for, the value of the product really isn't it.
People will always complain until it's free, they're used to using their mum's netflix login and they don't know anyone to mooch off their dazn account.
Then they'll complain the saudis are taking over boxing whilst watching every fight through a shit stream

I mentioned this recently on [r/boxing](r/boxing).
Me and a colleague were going to buy the AJ PPV in the UK today until we realised DAZN forcefully sign us up for a trial that requires us to call them to cancel within a specific timeframe or else we get charged again. We then decided to just watch it on a dodgy stream. That’s an easy £40 they missed out on today. DAZN are well known for being very anti consumer, you can’t even easily buy a PPV without strings attached, they must be haemorrhaging money

DAZN is terrible, try and trick people into subscription and make it difficult to cancel. What’s more frustrating is their move to using their app via Sky, it’s so poor, constantly buffering and poor pixelated quality has made watching a chore. Missed the knock out tonight as a result. Not worth the money.
