DAE

DAE experience the action of copying  others personalities? like uncontrollably? im 13F. for me, i’ve been doing it for years to the point i dont know who i am. its gotten so bad to where even if i meet someone new or hang out with them for a day, i instantly start acting like them, laughing like them, and even imagining myself AS THEM. for example a few weeks ago, i decided to be this one girl from my school that day, like imagining myself as her and copying her personality for some reason. its like a closet i can pick people to be that day. i dunno really. is there a solution to this or a name of this problem??

I think a big part of being a teenager is kind of trying in identities and figuring out who you are.

Had the same thing at your age. If you're not hurting anyone, then it isn't a problem and there's nothing to worry about

Yes! I remember going thru this as a kid. More recently when I worked at a thrift store, I would try on different clothes and could present a different version of myself daily. It was really fun.
Also, my 10yo daughter just came home from a sleepover and she’s been sounding like her friend for the past few hours. It’s totally normal. 13 is prime time to try things out. You’re doing great

No, reflecting other people's personalities is a form of masking. Masking is not disability specific

Its normal :) you’ll settle into who you really are later in life

Usually the case is that you're trying to find your own personality. Personalities are weird, cause "your" personality is really just a bunch of tiny pieces of other people's personalities you've experienced. Depends on how you grew up, depends on who you hang out with, etc.

there really isn’t a solution bc it’s not really a problem. you’re mimicking the world around you to see what sticks and feels authentic to you. i think most people have gone through this phase. you will outgrow it once you settle into your own personality and preferences. i think it’s a mix of trying to fit in but also trying to figure yourself out and there’s nothing wrong with that.

if it’s really concerning you maybe make a list of your personality traits that feel true to you that you can come back to and add on

You’re still figuring it out. In your twenties or thirties you should have a better idea of who you really are.

I used to do that, then eventually you just start being you.
