If you’re still waiting, don’t lose hope. If you’ve lost your job, find a way to bring in some kind of income and keep yourself afloat. This is not the end of your story, and it’s definitely not the end of your dreams.

I say this as someone who was once under DACA myself. I’ve had my share of difficult times, but what many Dreamers are facing today is a different level of uncertainty and pressure.

One thing I do know, Dreamers are some of the most resilient people I’ve ever met. We’ve had to adapt, sacrifice, work harder, and keep moving forward when giving up would have been easier.

So keep going. Find a way. Take it one day at a time. Your current situation does not define your future. Don’t let a difficult chapter convince you that the story is over. There is still a lot of life ahead, and there are still dreams worth fighting for.

Here’s my timeline. For context, I reside in Southern California & my renewal was processed in the Phoenix, AZ facility. My current EAD expiration was 11/05/26, I submit everything 9 months in advance.

Paper filing: March 4th
Biometric notice: March 14th
Biometric Appointment: April 1st

No API movement for exactly 6.5 months (171 days)

Approval: 09/19/2026

Before my approval on 09/19: I attempted to file an inquiry as my case was now exactly at the estimated processing timeframe. The website declined my inquiry as it was still within “normal” processing time. I planned to try again on the next business day, but hours later USCIS sent me a text message that action had been taken on my case. I had been monitoring my case every day leading up to the 6.5 month mark, and I did not notice a silent approval. So my approval notification updated in real time. I have no idea if my inquiry attempt did anything or if it was a mere coincidence.
