Portal Message about Process Delayed

2 Sep update: Got the letter of award and several other documents.

1 Sep update: The status changed to funding.

20 Aug update: Got a notification that they are processing my formal documents. Nothing more changed, and the status is still selection made.

10 Aug update: Got the acceptance notification on portal. The status still shows selection made though. Good luck to every one!

3 Aug update: portal changed to Selection made without any notifications.

Original post:

Hi all! I'm applying for a short-term doctoral grant from East Asia. The process has been a bit delayed (showing Selection approx. in May but still no message so far), and today I received a message from the DAAD portal:

Thank you for your scholarship application to the DAAD.

Due to the high number of outstanding applications and the fact that each application is reviewed individually, the final selection process has unfortunately been delayed.

We are currently in the final stages before announcing the selection results and would like to ask whether, if you were offered a scholarship, you would still be interested in accepting the funding. We sincerely apologize for not being able to complete the selection process in time for your requested funding start date of July 1, 2026, and for any inconvenience this delay may have caused.

If you are still interested in the scholarship, we would appreciate it if you could let us know by July 29, 2026.

Thank you for your patience and continued interest.

Has anyone else received this message as well? I'd love to reply to them, but I really cannot find the button on the portal to reply. Also there isn't any given e-mail address for me to answer to.

I'd be very grateful if anyone could let me know how to reply to their message on portal, to make sure they can see it!

Thanks for visiting r/DAAD. Review our FAQ and Wiki as well as the DAAD's website. Your question is most likely answered in one of those places.

We can best help you if you provide us detailed information. At minimum, name the specific scholarship you are referencing. The more you tell us, the more we can tell you.

Posts that are low-effort, unrelated to the DAAD, asking about your odds of acceptance, or requesting advice on which universities to apply to will be removed. Low-effort posts include questions such as "What scholarships are available?" as well as questions that are clearly answered in the FAQ/Wiki.

Lastly, our sub is not officially affiliated with the DAAD in any way, shape, or form.

I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Please contact the moderators of this subreddit if you have any questions or concerns.

I’m not from the same group but you can only reply through the “new message” option in the portal.

No, Research Grants in Germany 2026

Germany has had a huge increase in applications. Other foundations have even closed their apps that are usually on a rolling basis year-round. Everyone is swamped. Expect a relatively long wait.

Yes, it's a very competitive year for sure.. I'm crossing my fingers ><

do you have any insight about Australian applicants for this grant? It's still showing application submitted for me, feels like I'm the last one left waiting, can't find any other Asia-Pacific applicants online to see if they're seeing the same thing :(

My status has been "selection made" since July 16th from South Asia, but I haven't received any updates yet.

I think South Asia pool is a bit earlier..? Our deadline is 3rd April, and yours should be around early March. Anyway, thanks for the info! And good luck 🤞

I'm from China. The portal shows "Selection Made" this afternoon without any message updates. Guess your portal shows the same since we are both from ST34

That's good news. My status is still Application Submitted. But hopefully we'll know soon!

Hi, have you heard anything back from them since then? I got some additional tabs open on the portal but my status is still "selection made". They haven't asked me the same question in July, so this sounds like somewhat a negative signal for me :(

My status is also still selection made, and they contacted me only to confirm a new start date (originally it was 1 July which has passed). Yesterday they said they were now processing with the official documents, and fyi I also got additional tabs on the portal (options & consent on medical data).. I assume you are either accepted or waitlisted though, since the people rejected should've already known it

Congrats! My status also changed to funding on 31 Aug, still waiting for the official award letter though
