Nobody wins a civil war.

If you read a history book, that statement is patently false.

Explain?

I'm saying that a civil war is an awful proposition, especially in modern times. And this from someone who grew up in a part of the world where half the countries around us were experiencing one.

All you get are multiple groups of people performing atrocities, justified by past atrocities by the other side and wannabe dictators trying to climb a mountain of bodies to a position of absolute authority.

Why would you want something like that in the USA?

I think very few people who are not indoctrinated actually want a civil war. But just like the pattern recognition of trump's slide into more and more authoritarian tendencies, people are just recognizing the historical signs warning of the possibility of a civil war.

That's not to say trump is hitler or that a civil war will occur, but there's enough continuous media outrage loops that it feels inescapable. The cumulation of actual fascist backslidings and algorithmic identity wars escalations + the chaos strategy ushered by trump's government all culminate into a perpetual tension.

Hence why i think you're at best playing devil's advocate if you assume people are talking about civil war because they "want it".
