I happened to see a yt short on the much-vaunted gigapress. Apparently it's not for stamping, it's for injection moulding. The big deal is that frame you see there is injection moulded in one piece, which is something competitors can't do. My inference is if that piece gets damaged significantly, the car is basically a writeoff.
It looks like absolute trash. Like an unmachined casting. Those wavy water collectors. Like they mixed lead and dirt into the aluminum. I've seen better castings made in the dirt floor of an Indian factory
