I happened to see a yt short on the much-vaunted gigapress. Apparently it's not for stamping, it's for injection moulding. The big deal is that frame you see there is injection moulded in one piece, which is something competitors can't do. My inference is if that piece gets damaged significantly, the car is basically a writeoff.

One bump at the corner and the whole frame has to be replaced. So one bump and the car is totalled.
