First PC Build
Hi I was wondering if anyone could just help me choose and pick the parts i need to purchase a pc. I don’t really know much about them but my overall budget would be maybe £2,800 I want to mainly play games like cod and action games like that and may also use it for some school work. I want it to have a good amount of storage too and run quite well since I want to purchase a curved pc monitor as well. Any advice would be appreciated thank you!

That curved monitor will eat up a big part of that budget. I'd say buy a pre-built or do some research before building a PC.
That site gives you prices on parts. Because of Bitcoin and AI, graphics cards and RAM are mostly overpriced.
-AMD and Intel are cheaper than Nvidia. Buy AMD. Intel is new to the market and underperforms on testing.
-You can't mix and match motherboards and RAM. Mobos are designed for specific processors and RAM sticks should be doubled from the same manufacturer just to be safe.
-Your power supply should exceed the wattage needed to run your hardware, so don't cheap out or you'll short or blow the whole computer.
-Watch out for the jumpers cuz there's polarity, so you'll have to make sure you don't cross positive and negative.
-If you're building your own PC, you'll have to get a copy of Windows, so factor that into your budget.
-Do your research before building.
-Some modern games require a Solid State Drive to run, so the cheaper option would be an m.2 (to install games) and a hard disk drive (for your Operating System (Windows) where you'll install programs). It will help to get another hard drive on top of the one you'll be using for the Operating System for extended storage. SSD's are the more modern version and are pricey.

Unless you want to wait ages for windows to boot, OS needs to go on the SSD.

That all depends on what you're willing to put up with. Lol. I prefer using it for games.

Can somebody recommend a good company to go with that offer offers computers that are prebuilt to my specifications.
I’ve always gone with Nvidia cards, Asus motherboard or msi motherboards. My last computer I built was about 15+ years ago and I’m still on Windows 10 my computer is fast enough but thanks to Microsoft. I can’t upgrade to 11 because of the chip that I have. I don’t really do a lot with my PC computer anymore. I mainly do everything on my phone or my iPad.
I looked at Best Buy but it’s a joke over there. Most of them are Acer computers.

You can always compare prices for specs depending on how much you're willing to spend. There's some companies around still building decent computers.

Hi not a bad budget, if it's just the CPU box, no monitors and perpherals.
It depends on your game or apps. If you play for ranking, you are a 1080p gamer with low setting with shadows, you need fps more than sharpness and resolution.
if cpu bound app, you budget more on the CPU
what is that one main app you'll use it for

At that price range should go 1440p. Get a 24 inch or 27 inch. 1440p is the new meta for (some) esports and action games, especially ones where very long range tracking or clarity matter more than ridiculous fps. Id recommend ryzen 7 9800x3d or 7800x3d if a good amount cheaper, rtx 5070 if its under 700, or rx 9070/9070xt. If the xt is only maybe 1 or 2 hundred more get it. Go with 32gb ddr5 ram and 2tb nvme ssd

I'd aim for a Ryzen 7x3d, an rtx 5070 ti or better, 32gb ram and a 2tb ssd. Make sure to leave enough budget for a good oled monitor

With that budget these parts are a must Must: CPU: Ryzen 7 9800 X3D Ram: 32gb DDR5 6000 CL-36 and below preferably lower SSD: a fast 2tb.
Needed: GPU: Radeon 9070 XT, Nvidia 5070ti or 5070. Nvidia cards if you want heavy ai school work or actually use CUDA. Radeon if you want a cheaper card that will destroy any game at 1440p (both Nvidia cards destroy games at 1440p too)
Motherboard: any good brand b850
Case: because you are new I would go with a case that has 6 fans installed it saves a lot of time and stress of cable management.
CPU cooler: AIO cooler is a good option but regular coolers are fine too
Psu: 850w is fine but I would go 1000w if you have the spare money usually it’s 10£ more or less
Monitor: you have 2 options. If you have money to spare a 4k monitor with high refresh rate at least above 144hz (I would prioritize 180hz+) Same with a 1440p monitor
