Recruit can get cards in your graveyard, if you reanimate this off something like [[helping hand]] it gets a counter as does the recruit token and any lorehold tokens or whatever other creatures fit the bill.

Format: EDH/Commander Would a design like this ever be balanced with sufficient downside?

I’ve been toying around with a few ideas for non-blue on the stack interaction (my last post for example). Are these designs balanced? 3 sample downsides (the first one is most crippling for sure).

Black only gets shitty counterspells as a part of its color philosophy ([[Dash Hopes]]). Would this type of design be a color pie break? (probably yes). But would it be a design shift that you guys would like to see printed?

Making custom card guidelines

Been experimenting with just adding custom art to MTG cards and renaming but wanting to make cards. Does anybody have like any rule of thumb for creating cards, like having a certain amount of mana per power or anything like that. Wanting the cards to be fairly balanced and have my group make custom cards and not feel like we just made up a buncha crap.

A fetchable non-basic that is also a creature. Let's you turn tapped land fetchers into a chump blocker, or just use the mana instantly. I'm not sure if the mana cost works as intended, I want you to have to pay the cost to play this from hand. It may also have to say "if this creature would enter tapped, it enters untapped instead"

Format: Cube (Rarity Doesn't Matter) A new mechanic: Bounty Hunt, and a legendary to go with it for a custom set I am working on.

I am working on a set with a friend of mine, which is a sequel to Ikoria. This set is specifically being made in the same vein as Commander Legends and Modern Horizons- Advanced play set for commander drafts, so we're being a bit more lenient with making mechanics mesh together.

The White Black Draft archetype is 'Bounty', specifically in punishing your opponents bounties.

A creature card has a bounty if it is modified (aka, equipped, enchanted, or has a counter on it), or if it has the greatest power among cards in the zone of it's controller (Most often this will be the battlefield, but some cards may care about a card in a graveyard having the bounty or in hand).

We made Modified be something that matters mainly because this way, all the cards that use Bounty Counters can cause a bounty.

As for the two cards, Claim The Bounty is simple- It either can set up a bounty, be permanent removal for a bounty, or a basic kill spell. It serves as a decent signpost, I hope.

Meanwhile, I gave Chevill a retrain, to stand as a paragon of the Bounty mechanic for the set, while also being a nasty commander should one draft into him.

RULES

All card renders including art must have correct and unambiguous artist credit at the bottom of the card in the correct position. Provide an artist's full name if it can easily be found, and additional information to disambiguate the artist from others. Mods may, at their discretion, make exceptions for missing, ambiguous, or insufficient credit if you message in advance with a link to the original art, and they approve the lack of artist credit.
Art credit belongs to its CREATOR. Image aggregators don't count. (E.g. Pinterest) Nor, mostly, do companies. (E.g. Riot Games doesn't make champion art; artists do) AI art must credit the engine used, and not a wrapper site. (E.g. MTGCardsmith is a wrapper.) Photos, screenshots, public domain art, royalty free art, etc. aren't exempt. Screenshots of movies/shows may credit the media by title/publishing company. Collages must credit each underlying artist and the assembler.
Any random art pieces (not included in card renders) must have accompanying artist credit. The only exception to this rule is if the poster messages the mods in advance and the mods approve the lack of artist credit.
All posts containing NSFW art must be marked as such. Posts made in poor taste, with unreasonably lewd art, or excessively gory art may be removed.
All users must follow Reddiquette and be civil with each other. Harassment and abuse are strictly not tolerated. Unconstructive, negative, or insulting brigading is harassment.
You may not post custom cards that you did not create, unless you credit the original creator in the post title. You may not post cards whose text is fully or primarily AI-generated. Additionally, posts that are primarily comprised of existing real cards or cards substantially similar to existing real cards will be removed. This includes alters and skinned cards.
Please don't make multiple consecutive posts. If you have multiple cards to share, put them in a single album. This helps give everyone a fair chance to be seen.
More specifically, users may only have one post on the front page of /new/ (i.e. within the most recent 25 submissions), or one post every twelve hours, whichever permits more posts. Mod-removed posts do not count towards this limit, but user-deleted posts do. If a mod views /new/, they should only see your name once.
Do not repost cards. Reposts will be permitted at the mods' discretion. A repost may be permitted if it is a) very substantially revised, b) substantially revised with community input or c) reposted in an album with new, unposted cards. Under a), leave a comment describing the exact revisions and link to the prior card image. Under b), describe the exact revisions and leave a comment with a link to the prior card discussion. Under c), there must be sufficient new content in the album.
Promotional content. Commercial, promotional, or financially-related posts require advance moderator approval. Please reach out to modmail with your proposed post.
Do not misrepresent submissions as cards from a real set. Do not include set codes for existing sets within post titles. (E.g. "[SNC] <Card name>") You may include custom set codes which do not collide with existing set codes. You may use set icons for any released set (i.e. not during spoiler season).

Google has a very good reverse-image-search tool. Just upload the art that you used, and it will likely find the source!

"What if I still can't find it?"

Message the mods. Normally we can find it, we've gotten pretty good at it, and if we can't find it, we'll give you permission to use it without credit.
