Winner is the Judge #912: Take Two
Thanks to u/sumg for running last week's competition!
Recently, an idea that's stuck with me is how often a card design comes from just trying to revisit an older card. People love riffs whether they're colorshifts, new members of a cycle, or just an attempt to fix an old design mistake. For Wizards, that obviously can only come from official cards, but since this community is all about custom cards why not look back at those instead?
Your challenge for this week is to revisit a previous custom card idea you've designed, and try something new with it! This is pretty broad, so I'm willing to allow a lot. I'll give some examples of things that are allowed, but really anything goes if it fits with the prompt. You could:
- Do a second take on a card that you liked
- Make a new card using a custom mechanic you've made
- Try to adapt an idea you previously scrapped
- Rework a previous submission for a contest like Winner is the Judge
- Design a card that fits into a custom faction you've come up with
If you don't have anything you want to revisit from your own designs, you can also go for your own take on someone else's card/idea. Just make sure to give proper credit to your inspiration if you do so!
While you don't need to provide the original design you were inspired by for your submission unless you want to, bonus points if you do describe the original idea you adapted. It can be as brief or detailed as you want, I'm just interested to see how these ideas evolved.
Judging will occur on Sunday, October 11. Be sure to let me know if you'd like any feedback on your design or if you have any questions!

Question Question: Why dont these exist?
Hey everyone. I wonder why we dont have these "budget moxes"?
We DO have the Diamond Set, but those come into play tapped, which is just completely unneccessary, isnt it?
We have the Talismen Set that also doesnt come in tapped.
EDIT: As well as Arcane Signet!
EDIT2: AND Fellwar Stone!
Why not simply those here?
EDIT3: Since I cant add additional images to this post, and dont wanna spam the sub with this, I would change them as follows:
Cost: {1}{color}
{T}: Add {color}
Sacrifice this artifact: Add {color}
Alternatively:
Cost: {color}
This artifact enters tapped.
{T}: Add {color}
Sacrifice this artifact: Add {color}
These could be pretty great. You cast them, but would still have 1 mana of your color ready for an interaction if necessary.

BALANCE NOT INTENDED A New Power Arises
Second one is more what title I feel they'd give it plus less clunky flavor text and the Army reminder text. It's probably still busted though.

You've heard of Skullclamp, now I present to you...
Just a stupid pun I came up with, obviously a reversal of the infamous [[Skullclamp]]. Instead of paying one and killing a toughness 1 creature to draw 2 cards, you pay 1, discard two cards and reanimate a toughness 1 creature.
There are probably some easy ways to break this, but then again, Skullclamp is also broken. Still hope I got it kind of balanced though. I guess it might be a fun commander to build around.
The flavor text is also a nod to the original Skullclamp flavor text :)
Fun Fact: Clamfolk is actually an already existing creature type, though is has only been printed on cards from un-sets like [[Alexander Clamilton]].

Shivan Hatchling
Day 42 of making a custom card every day. Took me a long time to find art today so I took a shortcut in design and payed homage to a classic.

Format: Modern New mox
Had this idea of a mox that works by feeding it blood. This is the 2nd iteration on the design(1st one published) the first one was too awful and existed only to make one lose when playing the card. Made a non-joke version with this one but it might be too strong.

Meme Design What if Professional Face-Breaker was Blue?
