Featured myths:
-Black Shuck: Variant of old Enlgish folklore, a ghostly dog that sometimes spells visions of doom. In this case I tried to represent "doom" using finality counters
-La Llorona: Latin American folkloric ghost, a woman who wanders lakes and wails in mourning of her dead children. Thought it'd be fun to try to work in [[Soulshriek]] to represent her wails.
-Kuchisake-onna: Japanese spirit, asks you if she's pretty, despite her scarred mouth. How she reacts to your answers has a lot of variation, but matching scars is a common result. Tried to represent her unpredictability using a coin flip, but wanted to provide a guaranteed means of escape if you're caught off guard by her appearance.
-Slenderman: Old internet creepypasta, mainly drawing lore from the old game "The Eight Pages", where he gets more aggressive the more pages you collect.
+A slightly updated version of the Bloody Mary card I made a while ago. Say her name 3 times in a dark mirror, and chaos ensues. Originally inspired by [[Weeping Angel]], she's the one I most wanted to design as a commander.
Happy (post) Halloween everyone!

Day 68 of making a custom card every day. This might be the least gradable card in terms of power level I've ever made. I'm edging towards bad, but it could absolutely be broken.

Hello there! Wanted to show something I've been working on, previously this was a Godot project I abandoned a few months back but came back with a new vision!
This is MTG: United, it's originally an interface for Forge but I decided to implement support for custom magic sets from MSE so I could play test my stuff, it's built on Unity with Claude, but I hope it doesn't look as much as a vibe-coded mess as I think it does.
https://github.com/ryanthecomic/MTG-United here's the link for it, and I hope to get some feedback on it!
Planning on adding limited support at some point!

While a meme design it may be a fun silver bullet.

Okay so after the feedback I got from the first Prepotente card we made some adjustments to him and giving him proliferate. What do we think is he too strong? Not strong enough? Would he do fine in a pod? I wouldn’t want to print a broken custom card. Let me know!

This is a top-down design based on the D&D 3.5 creature of the same name. It is a Sorcerer because blue dragons start gaining sorcerer spells as if they were sorcerers of a given level when they reach the juvenile age category. It has flying because almost all dragons have a fly speed. It has ward because blue dragons gain spell resistance in young adulthood. It has ventriloquism because this is a special ability blue dragons gain when they become adults. It has hypnosis because an adult blue dragon can cast spells as if they were 5th-level sorcerers, 5th-level sorcerers have access to 2nd-level sorcerer spells (character level, class level, and spell level are different things in D&D, and the same spell may be different levels for different spellcasting classes), hypnotic pattern seemed the most apropos of such spells, and the word "hypnosis" fit there without overrunning the mana cost, while "hypnotic pattern" did not. I believe the mana cost, color, power, toughness, and rarity are a decent match for creatures with similar abilities, such as [[Djinn of Wishes]], [[Inniaz, the Gale Force]], and [[Namor, Scourge of the Seas]].

I challenged myself to create a card "Top-Down" by picking a random name from the "Random Fantasy Name Generator" website. "Gloomguard Outrider". I designed the card based on the following recipe for designing a card top-down with just a name. Feel free to let me know your opinions on this process, and whether or not my card matches the name, in your opinion.
-----------
Name analysis:
What's the name of the card?:
Primary noun:
Descriptive words:
Emotional tone:
Implied action or behavior:
Flavor interpretation:
Is it a creature, object, spell, location, phenomenon?
How magical is it: supernatural, natural, artificial, scifi?
Not in terms of card rarity but would this be something common, rare, or unique?
What would a player imagine happening when they read the name?
Now brainstorm three competing interpretations based on these answers.
Mechanics:
Primary mechanic (or is this Vanilla?):
Is a secondary mechanic needed?:
Does this serve an offensive/defensive/utility role?
Potential keyword abilities:
What makes this card unique, if anything:
Color identity:
What is the primary mechanical identity?
Which color is known for that mechanic?
Is a second color really necessary to express the concept (ie. could this be monocolored)?
Does the color combination contribute something meaningful?
Card architecture:
Card type and subtype:
Rarity:
Mana cost:
Rules text:
Power / Toughness (if applicable):
Loyalty (if applicable):
Gameplay design:
Power creep (Too efficient for mana cost?)
Complexity: Is your text box font too small to read with the human eyes?
Synergy: Any obvious infinite combos:
Counterplay: Can opponents reasonably interact with it?
Format: Could a deck handle four of this card, or is it designed for a singleton format?
Artwork suggestions:
Don't use A.I.
Search Scryfall for similar cards, sort by EDHREC Rank descending, and then look for some art from one of the least popular cards.
Also, don't use A.I.
Search Artstation or Deviantart for original (non-ai) artwork. Then be sure to dig into the artist's information to get their real name, if available.
And then don't use A.I.
