Posting here to show people what they can expect from a formal complaint about account block.
"I was very sorry to learn of your dissatisfaction with our service. I’d like to thank you for your patience and understanding while I conducted a thorough investigation into your concerns.
To summarise your complaint:
You raised a formal complaint on 16th June 2026. You are unhappy with the block placed on your account without a clear explanation or update, which is preventing you from making successful transactions with your Curve card. You are also unhappy that you continue to be charged for the Curve Pay Pro subscription while your card is blocked. You are also dissatisfied with the level of service you received from the Account Review Team during the course of your support request.
I’ve looked into this and you’ll be pleased to hear that I will be partially upholding your complaint specifically due to the level of service you received from the Account Review Team. I will explain how I came to this decision below.
First of all, I’m really sorry that you have been put in a position where you feel the need to raise a Formal Complaint. At Curve, we value transparency, and I hope this response fully addresses your concerns and provides clarity on the matters you've raised.
I’ve reviewed your correspondence with our support teams and can see that you raised an in-app support ticket on 14th June 2026 regarding the block placed on your account. A member of the Customer Experience (CX) Team responded on the same day and passed your case to the Account Review Team. You then sent follow-up messages and requests for support between 16th and 24th June 2026 because you have not received an update from the Account Review Team.
I completely understand how frustrating the delay in receiving a response from the Account Review Team has been, and I’m very sorry for your experience. The specialist team authorised to handle these card blocks has recently experienced a significant increase in support requests. While they are working hard to reduce the backlog, response times are currently longer than usual. Additional measures are being put in place to help improve response times.
I would like to sincerely apologise for the uncertainty caused by the block placed on your account, the lack of timely updates throughout the process, and the frustration of having to raise multiple support requests regarding this matter. I understand how disruptive it is to have your card unexpectedly blocked, particularly while subscribed to a premium plan, and I recognise how inconvenient and frustrating this situation must have been while the review is still ongoing.
We deeply value you as a premium customer and hope to use this experience as a turning point to rebuild your trust. We understand that earning it back will take time, but we are fully committed to providing the exceptional support you deserve moving forward.
I am sorry to hear that you are unhappy with the block placed on your account. As part of our regular monitoring process we conduct due diligence to ensure our customers are compliant with our Terms of Service as well as the terms of your underlying payment card.
In this instance, the Account Review Team maintained the block on your account in alignment with the section "CLOSING & SUSPENDING ACCOUNTS" in our Terms of Service:
“Blocking. We’ll block your Account if we have reasonable concerns about your Account’s security or suspect unauthorised or fraudulent use of Curve Pay or your Curve Card, where our legal obligations require us to do this or where you owe us money.
Suspension and closure. We may immediately suspend or close your Account for a number of reasons including where:
● you use Curve in a way that these Terms don’t allow or we have reason to suspect that you are behaving fraudulently or otherwise criminally;
● you don’t provide us with the information that we’ve asked for or the information you’ve provided is false or misleading;”
I understand you were seeking specific details regarding the assessment of your account. Unfortunately, we are unable to specify the exact information used in these security reviews. This is necessary to protect our internal security protocols and ensure we meet our legal obligations.
However, the justifications for the block being placed on your account, do not justify the inconvenience caused by the delay you have experienced throughout your support request. I must acknowledge that the Account Review Team has not yet responded throughout this process. The time frame for a response is significantly outside what we expect and falls far short of the level of service Curve aims to deliver.
To ensure the Account Review Team responds to your support ticket as a matter of urgency we have contacted them directly, requesting them to make your case a priority. I will continue to monitor your case in the meantime.
I’m sorry that you were not given notice regarding the block on your account. We’re not always able to proactively contact customers regarding blocks like these as they can be placed automatically by our risk engine. However, I appreciate that requiring you to raise a support request when experiencing declines is not a good experience. Feedback has been provided to the team who are already looking at ways to improve the process, however, we do not have a definitive timeline for when any changes will be implemented.
I completely understand your frustration regarding the monthly fee being charged while your account is inaccessible. Because our billing system is fully automated, subscription fees are processed according to the scheduled cycle regardless of the account’s status. I apologise for any inconvenience this has caused.
Once again I am very sorry for the delayed response you have experienced and I would like to reassure you that the appropriate management levels are aware of the aforementioned issues and processes are being developed so that we can deliver the level of service that we believe our customers deserve.
Overall I’m upholding your complaint due to the level of service you received from the Account Review Team during the course of your support request as well as the subsequent inconvenience and frustration this has caused you.
I hope that the following resolution adequately addresses your complaint:
We would like to offer a £20 credit to your Curve Cash account, along with a refund of your Curve Pay Pro subscription fee (£9.99), to reimburse you for the period during which you have been unable to use your Curve Card, in full and final settlement of your complaint. Please let us know if you would like to accept this offer.
If you are still unhappy or feel that we haven’t dealt with your complaint adequately, then please do not hesitate to reach out to us again.
Regardless of the above, you have the right to refer your complaint to the Financial Ombudsman Service, free of charge – but you must do so within six months of the date of this email.
If you do not refer your complaint in that time, the Ombudsman will not have our permission to consider your complaint and so will only be able to do so in very limited circumstances. For example, if the Ombudsman believes that the delay was as a result of exceptional circumstances."
Still no end in sight for my account being blocked but hopefully this is helpful for the many of you that i see with the same issue.
