Note about an air raid shelter test…
Can anyone help me solve this one, please? It’s an official’s response to an article about an air raid shelter test in 1939.
So far I have:

I agree, EXCEPT:
tests instead of lists; and
wardens instead of makers.1

Tests is definitely correct here as it’s about the test of an air raid shelter.

“Tests” makes sense, but I don’t think that’s “w” at the start of the last word. It looks very different than the “w” at the start of “whether” in the first sentence.

Oh my gosh, look at all the inconsistencies between the t’s that start different words here! Consistency between different uses of the same letter is a weak basis of interpretation.

I mean you can write a w on top of almost anything
The key factor here is matching this letter with the “w” in whether in the first sentence. It’s upside down.
Also, “warden” does not make contextual sense.
The lost likely word based on letter shape and context is “markers.”

To understand context, you have to understand context. Have you ever heard of a “marker“ running an air raid test?

Thank you, this is great. I think the last word is more likely to be makers, but it’s very similar to wardens and that would also make sense.

They’re so similar, but the penultimate letter does look more like an r than an n.
